Wendy Rastelli Ponies

Wendy Rastelli began her riding career at age 13, competing in local and rated shows (JET Team Division). A professional horsewoman for over 40 years, Wendy completed the American Riding Instructor Certification Program, along with earning a Civil Service Certificate as a Riding Instructor. She began her teaching career at Watchung Stables in 1975, where her students competed regionally in Equitat

ion and Hunters & Jumpers. Has trained horses and riders to win state championships; coached teams to win the Bronze Medal, Reserve Champion and Champion in JET Show B Team Division (currently Garden State Horse Show). With students showing in the Equitation, Hunters and Jumpers at rated and non-rated shows; all with many ribbons. Taught flat and jumping lessons for Somerset Hills Pony Club, and for years has been leasing horses and ponies to members to participate in their summer camp held at USET in Gladstone NJ. Has hunted horses professionally with the Essex Foxhounds for 16 years, bringing along many field hunters and children/adult riders. For more than 35 years has managed her own boarding, lesson, training facility. With experience in day-to-day horse care, including nutrition and feeding programs, stable and field management, along with veterinary care (from assisting with surgery, administering IV medication, to basic wound care). The foundation of Wendy’s instruction is a balanced seat. This, along with her 40 years of teaching and training experience, has allowed her students to develop into secure riders that are in harmony with their horses. Whether in the ring, on trails, or going cross country. Wendy has organized and run several horse shows, and judged local shows. Proficient at driving a truck and trailer (bumper pull and gooseneck). Experienced with caring for other farm animals, including sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, and rabbits.
