I donated eggs to a local teacher for a class project. Hopefully they have a good hatch. Normally teachers have to buy their eggs.

Finally back to soap making.

Wild Tom seemed to be here all day yesterday. I looked out the window at dusk just in time to see him run down the driveway with three of my toms hot on his trail. He was here all day today and tried to come to dinner. One of mine tried to run him off, but he was having none of it. That is until a second one got involed. Then he ran down the hill and came back up the driveway. The geese were there by that time and wouldn't let him near the door, so he headed off to find a perch for the night since it was getting dark. He is persistant. I'll give him that.

He's back.

I still have a few birds and apparently my turkey hens have caught the attention of a wild tom. On Monday afternoon he was walking back and forth along the fence line at the bottom of the hill. On Tuesday afternoon he was up behind the coop pacing the fence line and the geese were keeping him out. Yesterday morning, when I looked out he was strutting back and forth at the coop door. He went into the woods when I went out. The last time I saw him it was snowing and he was headed into the pine trees. I imagine he has been hunkered down for the storm. We'll see if he comes back when the weather is better. It didn't seem like he was trying to lure girls away, it seemed more like he wants to move in.

On Monday my Khaki Campbell Ducks went to their New home at Clover Bee Farm.

Tough day. I sold the last of the pullets today and listed the hens.

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I must announce I will no longer be offering the egg CSA. Circumstances have changed and I am in the process of selling off my flocks. I guess I should be grateful that I had the opportunity to do something that I love, even for a brief time. And I do love farming. Sore muscles, strained ribs and all.

I believe that The Saint Paul Meat Shop will continue to carry my eggs until the end. It takes a little time to sell off a flock this size and it's not exactly the right time of year, but they are going in small groups.

I want to thank all of you for your loyalty and support over the years. It has been an amazing experience.

Sincerely,

Michelle
