It’s getting real over here! Portia found a nice warm place to lay her eggs. We were surprised to find almost a dozen eggs shoved between those bales. Also got Angela living out her best “if I fits, I sits” life while sitting in an old feeder. Of course she’s not the only one that enjoys sitting in there and regularly crushes chicken eggs 🤦🏼‍♀️ Never a dull moment.

It’s a wrap on cucumber and zucchini season for the garden. I’ve frozen 25 cups of shredded zucchini for winter baking and I’ve canned the following:

26 pints dill pickles
8 pints bread and butter pickles
22 pints sweet & spicy zucchini relish
6 half pints sweet & spicy zucchini relish
4 quarter pints sweet & spicy zucchini relish
7 pints dill pickle relish

This is my first year with a full garden and my first year canning. I’ve been freezing food for years but have never ventured into canning until this summer. I’m so proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone and learning a new skill that will benefit my family for years to come. Knowing that the food in these jars came from seeds I started in my dining room is such an awesome feeling. I nurtured those little seed babies and now we will get to enjoy my hard work and dedication long after the snow starts to fall.
