There has been a lot happening around the farm lately!
Last weekend, we moved our baby chicks into their permanent coop with our layer hens. They're still getting used to each other, so we've been keeping them separated. This morning, I finally took down the divider, and so far, everyone is doing well!
Sadly, last night when we went out to round up our free-ranging hens and tuck them into the coop, we discovered a predator had gotten one of our Rhode Island Red girls. Losing a hen is never easy, and we're now down one of our laying hens.
So, off to Family Farm & Home we went! We came home with six adorable Sapphire Sky chicks to welcome to the farm. Over the next few weeks, we'll slowly transition these new babies into the big coop with the rest of the flock.
With our newest additions, we're now up to 20 chickens! Farm life definitely keeps us on our toes, but we wouldn't have it any other way. 🐥🐔💛
