A new LGBTQ+ nightclub, Vers, is preparing to open later this month in Albuquerque’s Nob Hill area after delays in the permitting and liquor licensing process. The venue, developed by Lucas Romero and Luke Rogers, was originally expected to open in time for Albuquerque Pride but is now targeting a late June launch.

The club is designed as an upscale, modern nightlife space with a large dance floor, advanced sound and lighting systems, and an on-site kitchen offering elevated bar food. The owners say the project aims to create a dedicated, inclusive space for Albuquerque’s LGBTQ+ community, building on the success of their earlier “Friends of Dorothy” mixers.

Elliot Page is back with a documentary that could completely reframe what we’re told is “natural” 🐧🌈

In Second Nature, which Page narrates and co-produces, scientists explore more than 1,500 animal species that display same-s*x behaviour, change s*x, raise young in Q***r pairings and organise themselves outside rigid male-female hierarchies.

Penguins. Albatrosses. Clownfish. Bonobos.
Turns out, the natural world never signed up to “biological reality” as it’s often weaponised.

Page put it bluntly this week: “This idea that nature is organized around a cis heteronormative system is just completely false.”

He also spoke about growing up feeling isolated as a Q***r kid: “You feel like you are alone… you feel excluded, you feel like something’s wrong with you.”

Which is exactly why this film exists.

Because if one Q***r kid watches it and realises they’re not the anomaly, the story we’ve been told about nature starts to fall apart.

📆 Theatrical release: LA, 24 May. New York, 26 June.
🎬 Premiering at NewFest on 18 October.
