50th Birthday Party recap!
🎉 50 Years of Community, Connection & Co-op Spirit! 🎉

What a celebration! More than 250 people came together to mark the Belfast Community Co-op’s 50th Birthday celebration, and even a few sprinkles couldn’t dampen the spirit of the day.

The afternoon was filled with laughter, conversation, music, good food, and plenty of Co-op pride. Guests enjoyed complimentary food and beverages, anniversary cake, sample giveaways and swag, meeting with local vendors and community organizations, and stories celebrating the Co-op’s five decades in Belfast from our workers, Owners, and friends!

We were thrilled to welcome community partners and vendors, while DJ Denis of WERU and Very Greasy kept the music and the dancing going throughout the afternoon. Big thanks to Revision Energy, WERU Radio, Grandy Organics, counter/current/collective, the Northeast Organic Family Farm Partnership, Hoop Mainiac, WBFY Radio, Phoenix Knights Gaming, Waldo County Dems, and our Co-op workers!

Perhaps the best evidence of the day’s success was simply how many people showed up and stayed to celebrate - even with a small threat of rain. Most importantly, the celebration reminded us that the Co-op is about much more than a grocery store. It’s about people coming together to build something meaningful for their community.

A huge thank-you to our staff, volunteers, vendors, musicians, speakers, photographers, and everyone who joined us. As the festivities drew to a close, a vibrant rainbow appeared over the horizon - a fitting tribute to five decades of cooperation and a beautiful promise for the years ahead.

Here’s to 50 years — and to the next 50! 💚🎂🎶

Introducing Groovy Garden Gose, a special birthday beer at Three Tides & Marshall Wharf Brewing Company only! In honor of our Birthday Party at Steamboat Landing Saturday 8/22 2-6 pm!

“ In the spirit of collaboration and celebration we worked with our awesome neighbors at Marshall Wharf to bring to life a keg of pure summer vibes! Fresh local mint and cucumbers come together to create an excellent craft beer to be enjoyed right by our beloved Belfast bay. It's a cool and refreshing way to kick off our 50th birthday! Launching today, Friday 8/21 at the Wharf only!”

"I’m a huge fan of our local breweries and I love working with Marshall Wharf. It’s always my priority to showcase local beer first and foremost. Beer brewing can be so creative and I appreciate Kevin for coming up with something so fun and working with us to make it happen. I know it makes so many people happy to see those striking black cans in our cooler and I’m proud to have them there.” Killian, the Co-op’s Beer and Wine Buyer collaborated with Kevin, Marshall Wharf’s brewer.

Kevin described the beer” In collaboration with the Belfast Community co-op, Marshall Wharf brewed up a special beer in honor of the co-op’s 50th birthday. This Gose features local cucumber and mint, is slightly tart, and is a refreshing thirst quencher.” 3.9% abv”
