The unsung hero of the dahlia patch this year ✨

Coseytown Gale has quietly become one of the most useful flowers I’ve grown.

She’s beautiful enough to be the star of an arrangement, but where she really shines is her ability to make everything else work. I’ve reached for her all season to bridge colors, soften transitions and pull a design together when it just needed that something. 🌸

Blush, peach, yellow, burgundy, purple, warm fall tones…somehow Gale plays well with all of them.

Growing flowers for design has taught me that versatility matters just as much as beauty — and this one has both. Coseytown Gale has absolutely earned more space in next year’s field. 🤎✨

Another day, another dahlia ✨

This beauty is Caitlin’s Joy. As with most dahlias, her color is almost impossible to describe. Her face is a rich raspberry pink, while the backs of her petals are a warm orange. 🍊🧡💗

Call her whatever color you want… I’ll just call her BEAUTIFUL. 😍

Caitlin’s Joy has been making appearances in our Bouquet of the Day at Green Thumb and, good news for my fellow dahlia addicts, she’ll also be a part of the Flower Girl Farm 2027 tuber sale! 🥔✨

A beauty that didn’t get nearly enough attention this season: Lollipop 🍭🌸

She’s one of those dahlias whose color is almost impossible to describe—watermelon? Coral-red?orange?? Somehow all three depending on the light.

Whatever you call it, she is BOLD. And after harvesting this armful, I’m thinking I seriously underutilized her this year. 😂

With that being said, you can find her in our late season bouquets that we will have available at Green Thumb Garden Supply until a frost wipes us out. Florist, if you have an October wedding and this color calls to you, let me know! There is plenty of lollipop to go around.

Another day, another dahlia harvest — this time featuring a very special guest harvester, Grandma Sue. ♥️

This beauty is Cornel, and she has quickly earned permanent residency at Flower Girl Farm. Deep red, perfectly ball-shaped blooms with petals that look almost velvety…they’re so perfect they hardly look real.

And she’s not just pretty! Cornel is an absolute workhorse — prolific flower production, strong stems, and tubers that store beautifully. Basically everything I could ask for in a dahlia.

Pretty sure we’ll be growing this one forever.

I LOVE when a wedding has the personality of the couple woven throughout. 🤍

This bride asked if we could create some of her arrangements in ski boots… and obviously the answer was YES. 😂⛷️🌸

I’m obsessed with how fun these turned out! Such a cool way to make their wedding flowers feel completely them.

Earlier this week we received a special request for a very special “Grandmother’s Day” arrangement. 💕

I don’t think the person who ordered it could have known just how much I would love making this one.

I’m incredibly lucky to still have both of my grandmas, and both of them were such influential parts of my childhood. I grew up with grandmothers who showed up, loved big, taught me things, encouraged me, and helped shape so much of the person I am today. 💗

So when someone asks me to make something BIG and beautiful to celebrate a grandma who means the world to them… you better believe I’m going to put my whole heart into it.

This one was overflowing with flowers grown right here at Green Thumb Farm — dahlias, zinnias, Cherry Blossom delphinium, White Lite sunflowers, statice, scabiosa, hanging amaranth and more. 🌸

Getting to grow these flowers is pretty special. Getting to use them to help someone celebrate a person who has meant so much in their life is even better.

Here’s to the grandmas who helped raise us, spoiled us, taught us, cheered us on, and continue to be some of the most special people in our lives. 💐💕

The first hints of fall are starting to be requested for events! ❤️🍂

This special order is headed out from the farm today. It features Benary’s Giant Deep Red Zinnias, Cornel Dahlias & Potomac Red Snapdragons.

There’s something especially satisfying about seeing an entire order come together in one color palette. 😍
