I had a fabulous time teaching a gluten free baking class at the Dorothy Lane Market Mason Culinary Center today. A big thanks to the Culinary Assistants Sandy, Donna and Amy, as well as our shopper who nailed the ingredients, Lisa. I can't wait to be back in just a couple of weeks to teach again. Bites of Nostalgia is run by me, and I'm it. I'm the Baker, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Accountant, Buyer, Delivery Driver... you get the point. Thank you for supporting my passion for more than a decade. It truly means so much.

I went in for my annual blood draw at CompuNet this morning and mentioned to the phlebotomist that I have Celiac Disease. She admitted she was surprised by the sudden increase in recent diagnoses.That is when I shared a powerful fact: the standard Celiac blood test (tTG-IgA) only entered wide use in the early 1990s. The condition isn't new. Our data is. Before this test, people frequently suffered or died from what was vaguely called "wasting disease." She was absolutely floored by the history.
