excelsior, rome → incredible concierge. anything you needed, they made happen. old-money rome energy

, venice → best service of the whole trip. they knew exactly what drink i wanted, and every morning larry made us different coffees to try. best location too, you can walk the whole city from here

, siena → that balcony. breakfast over the tuscan hills and the siena skyline, worth the room rate alone

castello di volpaia might be the best winery in tuscany. a world-renowned vineyard tucked inside a medieval village in chianti — make a reservation, do the full tasting, try their olive oil, and stay for the restaurant. i don’t even like red wine and i’d go back.
