Good Morning.
The time is roughly 4:15 at the start of this post, and about 8 inches of fluffy snow has fallen in South Bellingham. We made sure to shovel out near the building, so the plow can come through and make sure the parking lot is clear and safe for our patrons. A big THANK YOU to all the plow drivers (town and hired drivers) who spent the evening keeping the streets clear for the citizens of Bellingham, and those who are passing through.
The roads must be cleared so emergency vehicles, and those who are deemed essential, or able to work, can get to their place of business... but if your job puts food on the table, wouldn't that be deemed essential, so you may provide for your loved ones the proper food, water, shelter, and clothing essential to a safe, and healthy life.
We have been lucky enough to be open since the start of state ordered shut downs, and limitations. To be honest, this has been one of the best, if not the best year, sales wise, in company history. I consider myself very lucky to be able to open my doors every day and operate my business (while following COVID-19 guidance), and earn a living.
Sadly, not all the glitter is gold behind the scenes currently, and the reason I (Brett) am still operating normally is due to this pandemic, and the regulations the commonwealth has put forward.
In the industry of off premise liquor store accounts in New England, typically the winter season is the slowest time of year, due to the weather; this is excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve. From March 17th (St. Patrick's Day), until now, the on premise liquor accounts have jumped through hoops: Renovating their space to accommodate social distancing (fewer tables in restaurants, spending their hard earned money on single use supplies, strong cleaning products, and in some cases, plastic screens so you may sit at the bar instead of adjacent to the bar top).
I apologize for the rant, and possible spelling mistakes (sleep deprivation is a son of a b***h), but to wrap things up, I (Brett), hope with the release of these new vaccines, that the great individuals of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts may get back to work sooner than later.
