Hi all. It has been a while. We are still trying to get things built so we can get back in the retail meat business. Although our extended family has our houses with power (at last!), there is still no garage or barn. The foundation has been poured for the garage, so we are getting closer. We hope to be back selling meat again in about 6 weeks or so.
In the meantime, I want to let you know about a woman-focused workshop coming up in May near Spokane. It is an offshoot of the New Cowgirl Camp. It will highlight creating a context for our lives, making the best decisions to lead us there, setting boundaries, understanding our body's reaction to stress, and much more. Hi all. Just a reminder that the farm stand is closed for a couple of months until we can get the facilities finished. Watch Face Book and the website for updates.
Also, we have lots of yak (from the recent butcher) and only a little beef. If you want to place an order via email, I can try to fulfill that. I won't have free access, so it probably can't be a late notice request.

The last day for the farmstand is September 20, 2025, until we are moved and set up.
We want to reduce inventory, so with any purchase of $100 or more of packaged meat and/or bones on this Saturday, you may take one yak roast (several different kinds of roasts) OR 2 lbs of ground yak for free - up to a $25 value - while supplies last. Let Andrew know that you saw this post. In addition, beef and yak soup bones are on special for $2/lb.
We have a lot of yak steaks to choose from!

Farmstand Saturday! We are open today from noon until 3 PM.
Summer is winding down. So will the farm stand for a bit. Saturday, September 20, will be the last day for a couple of months. The farmstand will temporarily close while we move down the road to our west farm. The facilities are not finished there. We are reducing inventory so the freezers can go into storage.
Please check the website and Facebook in the next few weeks for updates on when and where we will reopen.
We have a wide selection of yak meat, sausage, and steaks. There is a little beef left - brisket, roasts, a few packages of ground beef patties, and some other cuts.
We look forward to seeing you there today and next Saturday!

Farm stand Saturday is here again. The farm stand is winding down. We will temporarily close the stand while we move and finish building just down the road at the west farm. The last farm stand Saturday will be on September 20. We will reopen in a month or probably two after the facilities are finished.

Today we have some beef and a good variety of yak.
Be sure to stop by and stock up. We found a few pounds of pounds of ground beef. We have a lot of ground yak (my favorite), Yak steaks, roasts, jerky, pepperoni sticks, brisket, stew meat, ribs, and more!

It's Labor Day weekend!
The farm stand is open today from noon until 3 PM. We have new Yak today: Ground, roasts, jerky, pepperoni sticks, and steaks. Whole fryers and some beef products are also available for purchase. The jerky and yak sticks are perfect for snacking.
Start up the grill this weekend and enjoy grass-fed pastured beef, yak, and chicken! Yum!

It's the end of an era here at our east (home/main) farm. The last of the beef and yaks were moved to our west farm. Yesterday was the first time in my lifetime that there were no livestock here.
They are now happily settled in at the west farm.
We will move from here by October 7, but will remain in business. The last day for the farm stand will be September 20, 2025. After that, we will post on the website for the last day to place an online order. Once we are set up at the west farm, we can take orders again. It may be a month or two. We are still trying to get everything built over there.
Please say a prayer for me that I at least have my house by then!

I recently returned from co-facilitating our Roots of Resilience's New Cowgirl Camp near Spokane.
As always we had an amazing and diverse group of participants from many different backgrounds and locations. It was a rich experience for all of us.
This was a five-day retreat-style intensive for new or aspiring farmers to learn about regenerative agriculture. This included animal husbandry, vet care, Holistic Planned Grazing, ecological monitoring, land planning, business, and much more.
We will be back at it next year at the Lazy R Ranch in Cheney in June of 2026, and if all goes well, we will have a session here at Matheson Farms in Bellingham next July. It will be either co-ed or women-focused - tbd. We also will have some partial scholarships available. More to come in the future!
