Kissing this reefnet season goodbye… 👋🏼🐟

Another season of wild salmon, early mornings, full nets, and a whole lot of gratitude for the people and place that make it possible.

Reefnet fishing is a centuries-old, low-impact fishing method unique to the waters around the San Juan Islands. Fishermen use carefully positioned nets to selectively harvest salmon as they make their way through the islands, bringing in wild fish while leaving the rest of the run to continue on.

It’s a tradition rooted in place, people, and a deep respect for the resource.

THE WAIT IS ROE-VER 🧡 IKURA IS BACK! We’re thrilled to have a small amount of King Salmon Ikura back in stock. It’s mid-season and the boats are still on the water, so we’re hopeful more will follow. For now, we couldn’t wait to share a taste of what we’ve all been missing.

That satisfying pop. That rich, briny bite.
Ikura brings a little luxury to whatever’s on the menu.

Two slippery fish, one very important goodbye. Back to the open ocean they go! 🐟👋 zero bycatch, maximum wiggle.

Most fishing seasons begin with a boat leaving the dock. Ours begins with boats rolling across a road.
There are only 11 reefnet gears left in the world, and every summer our reefnet pontoons are carefully rolled across Lummi Island before they’re launched from the beach and returned to the same fishing grounds year after year.
The salmon aren’t here just yet, but the 2026 reefnet season has officially begun. 🌊

We asked our crew one question: what’s on repeat in your kitchen right now? 👀

Spicy canned salmon hand rolls. 10 minutes, a little heat, and suddenly lunch is the best part of the day 🌶️

Restaurant worthy scallops? Sure. Surprisingly simple weeknight dinner? Even better. ✨

This makes it into the dinner rotation for good reason. Miso glazed Baker River sockeye, carrot ribbon salad, fluffy rice 🍚 🐟

The appetizer that mysteriously disappears before everyone arrives 🤷 Our Finance Managers famous smoked Salmon dip.

This is exactly why we keep halibut in the freezer 🍋

Garlic, seafood pasta. What more could you need? 🍝🦐

This might be the most important fish we catch all season. And we let it go.
One of the things that makes reefnet fishing different is what happens after the net comes up. Because fish are brought aboard alive, our crew can sort each one by hand and release non-target species back into the Salish Sea.

The Fourth of July may be over, but we’re still celebrating one thing we’re proud of every day: seafood caught and shipped right here in the USA. 🇺🇸

While most seafood in grocery stores is imported, every fish we sell comes from American waters and supports American fishermen, processors, and coastal communities.

Thanks for choosing local fisheries and knowing where your seafood comes from.
