It’s impossible to fully say what’s on my heart, but I’m gonna try.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. To the moon and back, thank you. Thank you times infinity.
Bloomhaven was the pride and joy of Brandon Paul Weaver (“BPW”) and myself, and I’m realizing now that I never really shared how Bloomhaven came to be.
BPW and I are friends who met a million years ago in the specialty coffee industry. Life led us in different directions: Brandon switched to bartending and he eventually bought Liberty Bar, which he still co-owns today. Meanwhile, I went sober in 2016, but often wished I could still have a cocktail – safely.
When n/a spirits and wine started to roll onto the market in 2020ish, BPW and I nerded the heck out together about them. He and his team at Liberty developed a stunning non-alcoholic cocktail menu. I gained a wealth of knowledge about n/a spirits and wine through my n/a instagram, MollyMakesDrinks. It was only a matter of time before Brandon and I started dreaming up n/a business possibilities.
Fast forward to May 2024. Another dear friend’s business in the beautiful Fairhaven neighborhood of Bellingham was closing and she wanted someone to take over the space who would love it as much as she did — and I’m so lucky she chose Brandon and me. By September, I’d moved from Seattle to Bellingham, curated an offering list, modified the shop to meet our vibe, and opened our doors. It was a whirlwind!
Questions loomed over us: would anyone want n/a stuff? Was this anywhere near a viable business?
As with most things, the answers to those questions were complicated. Yes, people wanted n/a stuff. Y’all are truly the best guests in the world, and you were so enthusiastic!
