đŸ—œRETURN OF THE NEW COLOSSUSđŸ—œ

This coming MONDAY May 11 (yes, Monday!) from 5-9pm we’ll be hosting a release party and fundraiser for our second batch of “The New Colossus.”

This special 11° Czech Pilsner was brewed in support of our refugee and immigrant community here in Western Washington with 100% of sales from the beer benefiting our friends at Renew Northwest. .northwest

Starting at 5pm we’ll be pouring this well hopped Pils and serving limited snacks with all sales going to the fundraiser. Following the release party, the beer will be served at a who’s who of Bellingham area breweries, again with 100% of the sales from the beer being donated. We hope you’ll join us on Monday to drink beer, meet some of the folks from Renew NW, and raise money for some of our new neighbors who need our support.

It’s Garden Party Weekend!

This Friday April 24 - Sunday April 26, come out and celebrate the return of Spring with the Sunnyland neighborhood breweries!

We will be releasing our triple decocted 10° Czech Pilsner, “DziaƂka Pivo”, pouring from the gravity all weekend! We will have a number of fun food specials, including a delightful and fresh Garden Veggie sandwich and Dan’s Famous Fried Pies.

On Saturday, April 25 we will have friends from Growing Veterans () onsite from 10am-4pm to share more about their mission growing food on their Farm and supporting Veterans, and we will be donating $1 from every DziaƂka Pivo sold that day. Also Saturday, music from 4:00-6:00pm on the patio from Soul Duck Hot Swing! Sunday Brunch is “Pirate Themed” (do with that what you will).

During Garden Party Weekend each brewery will feature a new beer, you’ll be able to enjoy fun events and live music and collect stamps on your punch card as you visit each location. Visit all five breweries and be entered into a raffle to win prizes including gift cards from neighborhood businesses like , .

Friday is industry day, with beers $1 off all day at any location for industry folks, and if you can, join the Brewers Pub Crawl that kicks off at at 4pm> James St>Otherlands> > ending at at 7pm.

We encourage all revelers to dress up in their finest “Garden Party” attire and stroll through the Sunnyland Neighborhood, luxuriating in this fun and strange local brewery tradition.

Listen up brothers and sisters! Tomorrow night, 4/20, from 4-9pm, we are opening up for a special evening celebration of one of the year’s most holy nights.

Yes, it’s a Monday and we are normally closed, but we take our duty as your sensory shepherds seriously.

Join us from 4-9pm for a “Taco Bell” inspired evening of celebration featuring a CRUNCH WRAP, NACHOS AND FRIED PIES (all available vegan).

We will also be pouring a special sneak peek gravity keg of our 10° Czech Pils “DziaƂka Pivo”, and at 4.0% ABV it’s the perfect patio sipper and companion to your celebratory vibes.

đŸșWednesday 4/15, from 4-9pm!!đŸș

Oh Kölsch Night, how do we love you? Is it the tiny glasses of refreshing pale beer that show up without prompting on my table? Is it the glamorous bow-tie get up and the delightful hospitality? Or could it be the tasty food specials that pop up randomly each year along with Kölsch Service?

Come experience Kölsch Service this Wednesday night as we release “Steppin’ on the Beach” our once-a-year Kölsch-style Ale, along with a few fun food specials.

This year we are making a lovely little snack plate featuring house marinated cheese, olives, pickled beets and bread.

For those in possession of greater appetites, we have a “Curry Wurst Plate,” featuring a Beyond Brat, curry ketchup, sauerkraut, and house frites. While this might not be a “traditional” brat or currywurst plate it is tasty and promises to support your Kölsch stamina throughout the evening.

Bellingham Beer Week is upon us! Check out our line up of events for beer week (and slightly beyond).

We’re bringing back old favorites like Kölsch night, with food specials this year, and collaborating with friends on events like Tapping of the Bocks with Kulshan and Humboldt Happy Hour with El Sueñito!

Finally, though technically not part of beer week, we are opening for a very special Monday evening 4/20 celebration.

April is packed with events, prepare yourselves!

🌾New Spring menu items are here and they are delightful!

đŸŒŒHouse Marinated Olives
Whole castelvetrano olives, marinated with Mama Lil’s peppers, carrots, garlic, lemon and za’atar spices. You’ll want to scoop every last bit of that marinade up with the warm pita bread. (Vegan and can be GF)

đŸŒŒButter Bean Hummus
Creamy house made hummus, with cucumber and onion gurkensalat, jalapeño zhug and a pickled egg, served with enough warm pita for everyone to enjoy. A bright and flavorful spring snack. (Can be GF or Vegan)

đŸŒŒSpring Salad
Crisp baby greens and spring mix, julienned peas, watermelon radish, fried almonds and shaved parmesan cheese, with a tarragon lemon vinaigrette. Perfect on its own, though our favorite includes adding a pickled egg. (GF and can be Vegan)

Come try them!

In accordance with our strange rituals here at Otherlands, the beginning of March means the return of MĂ€rzen! Brewed in early November and cold lagered all winter long in a horizontal lagering tank, ”First Flowers” is our liquid welcome to the returning sun, flowers, and spring.

Despite its deceptively simple recipe (just Pilsner and Munich malts), we feel that our MĂ€rzen exhibits an impressive complexity. Look for a full, rich maltiness, notes of bread crust, dried fruit, and spice, an especially smooth mouthfeel (from the 14 weeks of lagering), and a pleasantly crisp, dry finish.

”First Flowers” is among our most special once-a-year beers. However, like the flowers that inspire the name, it’s here today, and will certainly be gone tomorrow.

Calling all lovers...of cake! For this Valentine’s Day weekend, we’re featuring a decadent brown butter cake with crùme anglaise, Czech dark lager reduction, macerated strawberries, candied pecans and mint.

This dessert special is available starting tonight through the weekend (until we run out). It pairs great with our "Haladuda Specjal" Polish Pilsner, or our "Dream of the Raven” Czech Dark Lager.

We still have some space for reservations of any group size for Saturday night - so give us a call or DM.

It’s quite rare that we get excited about a hoppy American beer here at Otherlands... too rare. The truth is, our love affair (read: obsession) with subtle, rustic lagers has left little room for the attention and affection our IPAs (and their little siblings, pale ales) deserve.

This year we’re resolving to right that wrong by bringing that same thoughtfulness and intentionality (read: pathological perfectionism) to our hoppy beers. To that end we’ve been experimenting, asking a lot of great hoppy brewers a lot of mundane questions, and ruthlessly rethinking our assumptions.

We’re excited to introduce the first beer born of this manic crusade: “Northwest Kingdom,” a modern American Pale Ale brewed with US barley (here’s looking at you, America-firsters...) and Simcoe, Centennial, and Chinook hops. Powerful aromas of ruby red grapefruit and pine are balanced against a soft, full mouthfeel and a solid, clean bitterness. This one’s for all the hop heads among us.

In related news, we just bottled a “new and improved” take on our beloved "Wildflower IPA” using many of the new approaches we’re experimenting with. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Look for draft Wildflower in the coming days.

Otherlands Beer will be closed tomorrow, 1/30, as part of the National General Strike against ICE in solidarity with the people in Minneapolis, Portland, and all around the country.

While we’ll miss seeing you, we encourage you to spend your time and money thoughtfully tomorrow, whether it be peacefully protesting, staying at home with a good book (we have some recommendations!), calling your representatives, not spending money, or helping to raise money for communities in need.

We look forward to seeing you all soon.

Somehow it’s happened again... For the second year our little cafe and brewery has been nominated for The USA Today 10Best Brewpubs in America. Once again we’re surprised and humbled, but most of all we are so proud of our team. They work so hard and truly care about the experience you have here! We are also deeply grateful to the folks and local community who keep coming through our doors, keeping this strange and special place going.

If you’ve been to Otherlands and enjoyed our beer and food, please consider letting the people at USA Today know by casting a vote in their online poll which is open until February 23 (link in bio). While all of this is absolutely wild, we hope this opportunity can help further shine a spotlight on the phenomenal craft beer culture that exists in Bellingham, WA. Thanks so much!

-Ben & Karolina

(We put the voting link in our bio this time around 🙃)

We included some photos of our wonderful staff, including our co-chefs Dan Fitzgerald & Cylene Sana, and the multi-faceted Captain Clark who has been with us since we opened, both in FOH and in the brewery.
