Well fans, all the Dalihias are all planted, and a massive pile of horse manure is stock piled for applications this fall . Tore out a row of rye 🌾, we had way too much. Will till up that row for more flowers. Saving and drying some of the rye for adding to the bouquets 💐. Have small bundles hung up in the upstairs of the little barn to dry. Will have plenty of wheat 🌾 and rye for the bouquets. The 2 rows left will mature and dry out naturally and yellow up as they do. More planting today

Ok Flower fans, here we go. Planting 🌱 is now under way. Whoa, look, some are already up😳. Lol we started with our Dalihias first. And snuck some in our cheater pots we planted about a month ago. So they already have a month on some of them. We were ready the 1st of May but last year it was too cold and wet out and germination rates were terrible. This year we potted 💯 of our favorites to get a jumpstart on things. Some regular tubors are also planted but starting from scratch. We have trays of zinnias started and will plant as soon as possible. Straw flowers suffered a setback as I left clear humidity tops on them and 50% burned up.😮😮😮so we replanted them in trays again. Sunflowers are started as well and we’re off to the races. Stay tuned .😉😉😉 we will be direct seeding very shortly.

We are getting anxious. Rows are ready to plant and we are itching to go, However, we saw a long range May forecast that said it was projected to be a cold 🥶 May. With thoughts of last year’s fiasco with the rain and cold that hit after May 1st planting and the low germination rate that caused us to tear out and replant too much stuff, we are curbing our desire to plant now by starting some of the different varieties we will have this year in starter trays. Hopefully it will give us a good jump on the weather and get this party started 🥳🥳🥳🤣🤣🤣

Our winter wheat 🌾 is starting to grow the heads out. Just saw our first one while walking the rows today, so looking forward to being able to harvest them to add a few sprigs to our bouquets 💐 this year. Feeling like a real farmer 🧑‍🌾 today.🤣🤣🤣

Almost ready for more planting. We’ve been working hard hard hard on our new rows and didn’t forget the older ones. We’ve added over 5 tons of sand to our rows, 2 passes of compost and 1 pass of top shelf cow manure. All Rototilled in on multiple passes. Today we finished adding a 2 ton pass of sand. Sully watched while Grace helped shovel and spread .🤣🤣🤣. Rototilled it in on a slow and deep setting. Soon as the planting gets finished, on to work on the display buggy. 🥳🥳🥳. Soil is looking great !!!

Most of the cow manure has been spread and tilled in one pass. Chopped up nicely. Saved some back for the unopened rows. The boss is itching to begin planting. She pre-started some Dalihias in pots as a little experiment.

Well, we got another pass on the open rows to fluff and stir the sand and leaves 🍁 in more, and got 1/2 of the manure pile spread on the newest rows. Not tilled in yet but probably after this next rain. Saving the other 1/2 manure pile and the remaining leaves for unopened rows with the wheat 🌾 and rye to finish out. Sully and Grace ran the birds 🦅 away that were trying to get our worms 🪱 . 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
