Tailwind Farm Registered Rambouillets Tailwind Farm specializes in producing high quality registered Rambouillet for the purebred and commercial lamb producer. We have kept records since 1978.

Buyers of Tailwind Farm Rambouillets can expect, due to genetic selection via NSIP records, that their purchased animals will perform in the show ring or as seed stock. Our registered flock selection is based on production of pounds of lamb and fine wool. Traits such as: mothering ability, multiple births, out-of-season lambing, hardiness, longevity and milk production. In 2019 we enrolled in the

National Sheep Improvement Program and added records all the way back into 2012. In addition we purchased the UW-Wisconsin Rambouillet foundation ewe flock also with NSIP records and Benz NSIP genetics. Our most recent stud ram and ewe additions have come from the Chapman NSIP flock featuring Osmond (Utah),and Dr. Jay Bobb (dispersed) genetics and now the Ryan McNeil flock of Kamas, Utah. Tailwind Farms 44 year history can be traced in pedigrees of top purebred and commercial flocks. Success stands the test of time as we have many repeat buyers of multiple rams.

Greetings! its been a while since I have been active on our FB page. With the passing of Tim and needing knee surgery, I (Beth) took some time off to take care of my health.

With that said, we took a little break from lambing last spring, but had the goal to get back after things last fall. Congratulations to the Spies family from Texas on their Champion Rambouillet Ewe at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo! We know Tim is beaming from heaven with this news and love when we receive updates like this to share:

"We showed Addie (Tailwind 100) yesterday in San Antonio and placed first in the two-tooth division. The judge complimented her on her completeness and exceptional fleece. Our son went back in for the Breed Drive and WON, Champion Rambouillet at San Antonio!!! With winning that he was awarded a $10,000 scholarship to any school in Texas! We are absolutely excited and thankful for you raising and letting us know about her. "

A big thank you to Arlo Hark of Cannon Valley Graizers who purchased 5 registered March\April NSIP ewe lambs for their
solar fields contracts. Late in 2020 Arlo purchased a yearling ram by Chapman D-150 and a D-474 son. These ewes are an outrcoss sired by McNeil 1977 and had a avg NSIP index of 103.5.

We have just 7 NSIP rams left for sale, codon tested, micron tested, weaning wt, ADG. PW wt. ADG and scrotal circumference.
4 of the 7 are ready to handle 15-20 ewes starting Sept. 1. Call now they are going fast.

Thanks to Eric Grover family of Plainveiw Minnesota for purchasing Tailwind 7102, RR, Micron 18.5, WWt. gain 1.2, PWWt. gain 1.11 index 106. He too is Sired by McNeil 1977 a Tailwind 7061 son.

A big thank you to the Burton Anderson Family of Highmore, SD. They purchased this early Feb 2021 twin ewe lamb in the "friends on-line" sale. Here she is prepped for her first show. She is sired by Kyle & Alvin McNeil's 1917 going back to Tailwind 7061. 7061 has been a true foundation stud with over forty progeny in the McNeil ewe flock. Good luck to the Anderson's.

We have a dozen McNeil 1917 sons born Feb\Mar for sale at the farm. They are all RR and have microned 18.5 to 22.5. They are NSIP enrolled with ADG weaning weight of .95 to 1.2 weaning and post weaning gains. Thanks to Eric Grover of Plainview, Mn and Mike Lovell of Reinbeck, IA for purchasing from this group of 1917 son's.

Thanks to Bear Creek Sheep Station, Bob Leder, DVM and Penny Leder for the purchase of 3 NSIP indexed spring ewe lambs. Bear Creek is Nationally known for their pasture reared lambs, efficiency, and high productivity. The Tailwind ewes will be part of a cross breeding to raise in-house rams by line breeding. Tailwind 7104 TW was twin to futurity ewe purchased in "friends" on-line sale by Anderson Family, Highmore, SD. A second ewe was a high indexing(NSIP 104.1) triplet. We are honored to be part of such a long time, carefully managed, grass focused program by Bob and Penny.

Thank you to Dan Wohlt of Freemont, Wi for purchasing Tailwind 2003 yearling Ram privately.. He is sired by Chapman D-479, NSIP index as sire 103.6. 2003 weaning ADG 1.18 and post weaning ADG 1.01. Micron on 10 month fleece last October was 22.1. His Dam is UW 17614.

This ewe lamb on the bottle last spring is now in Iowa ewe flock with a sister. One of the brothers is being grown out as stud ram. Music is Grandpa's favorite!
