B-City Holland Lops Sherbet x Rapunzel’s Oak kits are now 1 week 1 day old. I was going to take them to Wisconsin when I went on the 17th of October, but they’re going to stay home when I leave tomorrow to Wisconsin, due to an emergency with my mom.
However, I will be taking 17 rabbits with me. 13 of the 17 all have a home to go to. The home I have picked out will be getting 6 of my Holland Lops and 7 of my Mini Rex. The Mini Rex are getting a major cut back done, as I want to concentrate on my Holland Lops. I will still have 5 Mini Rex in my barn, and that will be cut down to 4 when I return from Wisconsin. 1 Mini Rex will be going back to original breeder, here in Michigan, as he carries the Blue Silver Marten gene.
Just wanted to give all of my followers an update on my rabbitry.

These 6 kits are from B-City Holland Lops Sherbet (Blue VM doe) x Rapunzel’s Oakridge (Black Magpie buck). As of right now, with them being only 5 days old, NONE of these babies are for sale. Some of these kits will be retained as future breeders. I do know the Harlequin will not be leaving and I don’t know which of the others will be retained. They have to grow up and I will go from there.
My price list on future babies will be coming in the next couple of months, and they are not going to be cheap.

Sherbet’s kits are doing wonderful. Just went out and checked on them. It’s 40 degrees in the bunny barn, and she has plucked more belly fur to keep them warm. Got itty bitty popcorn bundles in the box.

Can rabbits be allergic to hay?

Yes, rabbits can experience allergic reactions related to hay.

Causes of Hay Reactions
* Hay dust and mold: Most reactions are triggered by microscopic dust particles, pollen residue, or mold spores clinging to old or poorly stored bales rather than the grass itself.
* Specific varieties: Some rabbits react poorly to specific types like Timothy hay, but tolerate alternatives just fine.

Common Symptoms
* Frequent sneezing or a runny nose (clear or white nasal discharge)
* Watery, red, or irritated eyes
* Rubbing or pawing constantly at the face and nose
* Wheezing, coughing, or labored breathing
* Softer stools or mild digestive upset.

How to Help Your Rabbit
* Switch varieties: If Timothy hay causes issues, try transitioning your rabbit to Orchard Grass Hay or oat hay. Never remove hay completely from a rabbit's diet.
* Reduce dust: Shake or fluff the hay outdoors before placing it in the enclosure, or look for hand-sorted, low-dust brands.
* Improve storage: Keep hay dry, well-ventilated, and tightly sealed to prevent mold growth.

Do I have rabbits allergic to hay? Yes I do.
What hay do I use? I use Orchard Grass Hay for my adults. Yes it is expensive, but it also cuts down on the sneezing.
For my juniors, I use a mixture of Orchard Grass and Alfalfa Hay.

All my hay is kept in an air tight storage tote made for hay.
