I am back in my seed warehouse getting caught up on orders. The gardens are thriving, the sun is shining and I'm oh so happy to be back in Texas.

Calendula seeds can be planted in Spring and late summer. They are one of my favorite dual purpose flowers. Plant Calendula seeds as a companion plant and harvest the flowers for herbal remedies.

These squash are amazing! Just harvested one that’s 34 inches long and weighs 5lbs with several more coming in. We live in a hot, humid, buggy climate and squash have always been a struggle for me, but these have flourished! And of course, excellent germination like all of Mary’s seeds! HIGHLY recommend!

Proof that I don't just snuggle cats. I also snuggle dogs.
Its been a wild 48 hours. These are my mom's dogs. I just got back after being in SD for 24 hours. Missed a flight and had to drive home from DFW. Ew!
Just an FYI, if you send me an email at any time of day or night, a tiny bit of patience goes a long way. I didn't answer an email after 2 hours and someone filed a complaint.
I am not Ama . If you want instant gratification from an overseas call center, you won't find that here.

So far I only harvested a few pods there are more growing and I am hoping that with me picking some that it sets new flowers. As others stated the vines take off and it takes some patience to see productions, though it is absolutely worth the wait! Plant several packs though if you plan to serve this as a Christmas dinner dish!

It's a summer squash that looks like a lemon!

Lemon Squash is bush-type plants are heat tolerant, somewhat sprawling and if you keep them harvested, they are quite productive

Delicious when eaten young while the skin is tender and the seeds are small.

PINK OKRA! Crazy right? And it's an heirloom.

Uniquely pink smooth pods. The pint (almost light magenta) color fades a bit when cooked.

Great flavor and good production. Pods tender to 6 in. 5-6 ft tall plants.

These vibrant Lemon Drop Peppers make harvesting oh so easy!
I have found quite a few recipes to make a sauce. If you've been around for a while, you know I like simple ingredient, easy recipes.

Here's one I'll likely try this week:
Lemon Drop Hot Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
1 ounce dried lemon drop chile peppers (about 1 1/2 cups), stems and seeds removed (see note)

1 teaspoon coriander seeds

1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds

4 cloves garlic, peeled

1 cup apple cider vinegar

1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

Honey, to taste

Salt, to taste
Notes
If using fresh lemon drop chiles, simmer about 2 cups of seeded peppers in the vinegar until soft, then proceed with the rest of the recipe.

Directions

In a skillet over medium heat, toast chiles, coriander, and cumin until just fragrant, about 10 seconds. Remove from heat and transfer to a blender along with garlic, vinegar, and olive oil. Blend until very smooth, scraping down sides of blender as needed, for 3-5 minutes.

Pour hot sauce through a fine-meshed strainer into a bowl. With a rubber spatula, push sauce through strainer to separate all liquid from chunks of pepper and spices. Add honey and salt to taste, starting with about 1/4 teaspoon, then transfer to a very clean bottle or jar. Store sauce in refrigerator, where it keeps well.
