French Garden Beans: Fresh on the left and dry on the right (for seed saving).
French Garden beans are DELICIOUS! The seeds are super fun.

50 days. Tall, very upright bush. Beans hang neatly and in clusters.
Long thin podded French bush bean, selected for home garden cultivation.

The bush produces 6-7 inch long, stringless pods. These dark green beauties are very tender and sweet.
French Garden is very productive and easy to pull from the bush.

Soil and Water: Legumes like well-drained soil rich in organic matter and a moderate amount of nutrients. Water lightly at planting, medium at flowering, and heavily throughout harvest time. Avoid overhead watering which can promote disease.

I'm still working on more "I grew this. Now what?" Posts. In the meantime, what are you growing or want to grow but you're not sure how to care for it? Do you sometimes struggle with a particular crop?
I'd like to know.
I'd like to help.

If you live in a cooler region with a short(er) growing season, you may be direct sowing and transplanting summer crops right now.
If you are in a warmer region with a long(er) growing season, you may be looking at "empty" spaces after pulling Spring crops.
No matter which region you are in, are you wondering what to plant right now? SEEDS!

Yesterday I received an email about Azomite. The recommended application for established plants is 1 tablespoon per plant. 2 tablespoons for new plants.
The question was: How many tablespoons are in 1 pound of Azomite?
1 pound is a little more than 1 3/4 cups. So 1 pound is approx 30 tablespoons.

I love having this "problem." Thank you Kalyn at Elbon Mill Farm

Here’s the “problem” with Mary’s seeds. 😩

Pretty much every single seed of hers I put in a pod is going to turn into an actual living plant that has to go in the ground. So I can’t just plant the entire pack and see what happens. I have to do actual math and decide exactly how many of each variety I’m going to use and exactly how many I think I’m going to sell.

Because if I start 25 seeds of each one…I’m gonna have 25 PLANTS of each to deal with later, and that’s a lot of tomatoes!! 🤣🤣🤣

I know this is a great “problem” to have. But my brain hates making decisions and doing math. 😒
