I was researching my Grandmother, Dorothy R. Cone and I only got started when I found a book the tells the story of the Cones from Canada. My work was almost done. My Great Grandfather David S. Cone was an inventor, this article was in the North Tonawanda News years ago. I would like to find information about this patent. I just don't how to do that. Any suggestions????

Descendants of Valentine Hollingsworth Sr. Genealogy research is so much fun. Sometime you get a BIG surprise. My husbands mother, Anna Lee Hollingsworth is a direct descendant of Valentine Hollingsworth Sr. My research is done and was so surprising and easy when you find there already is a society and even a page. I did some research for my friends 93rd birthday. This is part of what I found. His families origin back to 1556 was from Wiltshire, England. His 3rd Great Grandfather was Ebenezer Howe who, according to the article, was a revolutionary soldier who attended George Washington's farewell speech at Fraunces Tavern December 4, 1783 in Boston, Massachusetts. Also, his 7th Great Grandmother was… [ 31 more words ]

I found this ship manifest at Ellisisland.org, my daughter Sarah ordered a print for me. This is my Italian Great Granparents who came back to NY from the port in Naples Italy in 1923. This is the only Cinquino family line I know of. So if anyone has any information on this family from around Bari, Italy, please comment. What is fascinating is you will find out things that you never knew. [ 107 more words ]

For those of us from Western NY, more specifically Wheatfield and Bergholz. I found these books in my research. I will share later how I found these. Two lines of my German family were from Prussia and emigrated to Bergholz because of religious persecution. They are worth reading. I wish I knew this when I was in high school because many of the names are the last names of classmates. Who knew????

"If I could save time in a bottle, the first thing that I'd like to do". Jim Croce If you are researching, first talk to family members. We visited my husband’s Aunt C and I expressed my interest in knowing where the Kears came from. She shared that another relative was also searching and had physically gone to England and was able to get the documents in my picture. I made copies and began searching myself. I hit the jackpot when I found a message on one of the sites where a woman in England was looking for Philip Esau Kear. He had several brothers who stayed in England but Philip emigrated to the USA and she couldn’t find him. I was her missing link because I was looking for the rest of his family. We connected and shared information. The kicker is she is married to a Kear and is an Archives Assistant the Gloucestershire Record Office. She had researched the WHOLE Kear line. What an amazing discovery. Her name is Averil, she gave me the whole Kear lineage going back to 1679. They were from the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. We have an invitation to visit there, hopefully one day soon we will go see the Kear homestead. She has written a book about some of the Kears, I have a signed copy. There is so much more to say, so I will talk to you later. Happy Hunting
