Save for your trip to Portugal! The ‘World of Wine’ aka WOW museum is well worth the trip. One of our favorite parts was figuring out ‘Which grape variety are you?’ In the Grape Hall of Fame. Turns out I’m Trincadeira!

PS if I left the volume on you could hear me singing the theme song to ‘Captain Planet’ during the first clip 😂

How to pair fresh veggies??
Pay attention to the dressing or sauce. If vinaigrette is involved, you need something high in acid to keep up. Think Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner or Sparkling. For this peanut sauce vinaigrette I needed the acidity but also enough powerful fruit and minerality to hold up to the peanut sauce so I went with Chenin Blanc from Savennieres 🥂 if I had Verdiccio that would have also been 💣
For hard to pair veggies like asparagus and artichoke try Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley: Touraine, Sancerre, Menetou-Salon, etc.

They have something for everyone from sparkling to Bordeaux-style blends. Great cheese and charcuterie boards too!

May 17th is the next dinner in Bend at Oregon Spirit Distillery. Cook and sip along this month with ‘Hello, Home Cooking’ by Ham El-Waylly!

was founded in 1862 and they produced their first sparkling wine in 1965. Mirabelle is their multi-vintage or non-vintage sparkling wines with fruit from the North Coast of California.

Côtes-du-Rhône is organic and a blend of 56% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 14% Carignan

Took a little break from blinding after 2 back to back days of getting zero correct. Gotta get back at it! For me it’s the most frustrating, disappointing and fun part of wine studies.
I get asked a lot about natural ‘talent’ when wine tSting and if I could always smell and taste more than other people and the answer is no. Like any other skill, it’s something you can learn with practice. Practice practice practice 🍷🍷🍷 today I got 2 of 4, I’ll take that as a win. Second time in a month I’ve called Nebbiolo when it was Sangiovese so time to do some side by sides with those two and figure out where my wires are crossing.
