Happy Father’s Day from Kalcevic Farms!

Today we’re celebrating all dads but specially those who teach us how to work hard, care for the land, and show up for our families and communities day after day.
From early mornings to late‑night harvest runs, farm dads lead with grit, patience, and a whole lot of heart.

To the fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and mentors who keep our farm and our family strong — thank you.
We’re proud to carry on the legacy you built.

Happy Y'all!!
It’s been a busy stretch here at the farm;
- Corn planting: Completed!
- Milo planting: wrapping up this week!
- Millet planting: started last week!
- Tillage operations and road work: Looking Good!
We have been spending a lot of time in the cab but I gotta say, it's pretty hard to beat this office view.
There is still plenty happening and lots left on the to-do list; but we’re making steady progress every day. That’s life this time of year and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Stay tuned for more updates as we keep moving towards the start of wheat harvest.

Wednesday was all about pulling rye and getting our steps in… 22,509 to be exact! We like to call it the Kalcevic Farms Health & Wellness Program.
There’s no substitute for boots on the ground and eyes up close when it comes to checking on our wheat. Taking the time to walk fields helps us truly see what’s happening out there and make the best decisions moving forward.
Big shoutout to our awesome FFA help we had a great day getting to know you.
Here is to another year of kicking of the summer season officially with rye pulling.

Happy Friday!!
Did you know millet is one of the most drought-tolerant crops out there?
Millet—especially Dryland Genetics varieties—is built to thrive in tough conditions where other crops struggle. With its short growing season, efficient water usage, and strong adaptability, it’s a reliable option for producers looking to make the most of every acre in dry climates.
At Kalcevic Farms, we offer Dryland Genetics millet seed selected for performance, resilience, and consistency in real-world conditions. Whether you’re planting for forage, cover, or grain production, millet is a smart addition to your rotation.

Are you interested in trying millet this season?
Check out our available varieties on our website and see what fits your operation best.
Have questions or ready to order? Reach out to us or fill out the contact form on our website—we’re happy to help you choose the right seed!

Dryland Genetics, founded in 2014, is the leading proso millet breeding company in the nation. They empower growers with modern genetics to enhance a historically significant grain. Their advanced varieties help farmers achieve higher yields using less water and fewer inputs, fostering a more sustai...

We’re moving a little slower today with the rain we received overnight and during the day. We are thankful to see the moisture with more in the forecast.
Watch out for another freeze warning coming in tonight though so cover your flowers if you planted any like we did.
In field operations update: planting is paused for a couple days but we aren’t that upset about it.

Spring crop planting officially took off this week with us getting some corn and milo in the ground. We are thankful to be planting into some moisture in places. The planters have been making sure we get the “breaks” we don’t want. Even with all the prep we do in advance you never know what’s going to happen in the field. We are grateful for a knowledgeable team that rolls with the punches.
Stick around for to hear more about upcoming wheat harvest plans.

🌸 Happy Mother’s Day from Kalcevic Farms 🌸
Yesterday we celebrated the heart of our farm — our farm mom and office manager, Danell Kalcevic. From fixing protein testers and keeping the office running smoothly, to traveling to Washington, D.C. to advocate for agriculture, her dedication knows no bounds. Her passion, leadership, and care touch every part of our operation and everyone who works here.
Thank you, Danell, for all that you do for our farm and our family. 💐
And a very special Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there — on the farm, in the office, and everywhere in between. We appreciate all that you do every day.

Good Morning! It looks like someone finally turned the water on!
This rain might’ve shown up a little later than we ordered it, but we’re definitely not complaining. We’re thankful for every drop and grateful to everyone who prayed for rain—for your farms and for ours. Your prayers didn’t go unnoticed.

Right now, this moisture has us feeling hopeful for our fall crops that still need to be planted. Were excited to be planting into good, workable soil instead of dust, putting some much‑needed life back into the ground.

Of course, farming wouldn’t be farming without a little worry mixed in. We’re keeping an eye on the freeze warning, since a cold snap this late can be rough on emerged wheat. Freezing temperatures can damage developing heads and potentially reduce yield. So while we’re thankful for the rain, we’re also hoping the freeze plays nice.
