This past week, we’ve stayed busy preparing our wheat with nutrients to help it flourish, along with some targeted pest management—doing our part to set the crop up for success. We pushed hard last week with moisture in mind, because out here timing is everything and preparation is half the battle.

The forecast didn’t quite cooperate the way we hoped, but we’re staying optimistic as we keep watching the skies and forecasts—because farming teaches patience whether we want the lesson or not.

We hope you’re enjoying the warmer days in between and taking time to stop and smell the flowers.

What Have We Been Doing Wednesday!
Congratulations Alec Packard, Isaiah Jones, Jake Erker, Tabor Kalcevic-Erker, and Asia Kalcevic for completing the Emerging Leaders Program through Encore Consulting!

After many weeks of learning and growth, we celebrated with a team outing at Topgolf to reinforce the value of follow‑through and putting those leadership skills into action. Each team member also received a copy of Cowboy Ethics with a few personal notes to carry those lessons forward.

A huge thank-you to Encore Consulting for an impactful program and to the entire Kalcevic Farms team for their flexibility and support—working around schedules and covering bases while class was in session. This growth truly takes a team!

Though drought has been increasing significantly in much of the Plains, the weather pattern will favor at least some precipitation there into next week.

We are incredibly proud of our own Mike Drieth for speaking in front of the House Agriculture Committee on Monday in support of SB 26‑121, which would move agricultural overtime back to 56 hours per week.

Thanks in part to voices like Mike’s, the bill passed the House Agriculture Committee with a 10–3 vote and will now move on to the House floor for further consideration.

Agriculture doesn’t run on a normal 9‑to‑5 schedule. Our work is dictated by weather, seasons, livestock needs, and timing we often can’t control — we are truly at the mercy of Mother Nature. Having people willing to stand up and explain those realities matters.

It takes real courage to step forward, tell your story, and put yourself in the line of fire for agriculture. Mike did exactly that, and we’re grateful for his willingness to advocate for farmers, ranchers, and ag employees across Colorado.

Thank you, Mike, for representing Kalcevic Farms and Colorado agriculture with integrity and heart. We’re proud to stand behind you.

🌾✝️ Happy Easter from Kalcevic Farms! ✝️🌾

Today we celebrate the hope and promise that Easter brings — a reminder of God’s grace, renewal, and the blessings that carry us through every season. As new life begins to stir in the fields, we’re grateful for the faith that guides our work and the community that surrounds us.

May your day be filled with peace, joy, and time spent with the people who make life meaningful.
He is risen — wishing you a blessed Easter Sunday.

A very blessed Good Friday to all. Remembering the reason for the season.

Happy ! Warmer-than-usual temperatures have moved our field operation schedule ahead of normal. We’ve been focusing on tillage and spraying to control weeds while also returning nutrients to the soil. Back at the yard, planter preparations continue as well. Our DB120 48-row corn planter has received some extra attention and will be ready to hit the field soon. Stick around to see what happens next week!

Happy National Ag Day from Kalcevic Farms!
Today we celebrate the hardworking farmers and ranchers who keep this great nation fed. From sunup to sundown, across every season and generation, agriculture is built on dedication, resilience, and a deep love for the land.
We are proud to be part of an industry that provides safe, nutritious food for families across the United States and supports our rural communities every single day. Agriculture isn’t just a job—it’s a way of life, and it’s the backbone of our country.

If you’re interested, there is a National Ag Day event happening at the Colorado Capitol, and all are welcome to attend and show support for agriculture.

Thank you to every farmer, rancher, and ag family who makes it all possible. We’re honored to do our part.

Wow, what a day it was! We are proud to have been in the room today! A testimony by our employee Mike Drieth (pictured here, right person) helped push SB26-121 further. It was truly an eye opening experience to be at the capital and have the opportunity to make a difference for all of Colorado Agriculture!
Thank you Mike and Asia for spending the day advocating for what you believe in.

BILL UPDATE📢

Today, the Senate Business, Labor, & Technology Committee voted to advance SB26-121, setting the agriculture overtime threshold at 60 hours. This crucial bipartisan measure will give our workers the flexibility to earn more, reinforcing the sustainability of Colorado’s farming and ranching communities.

SB26-081 has been postponed indefinitely.

Thank you to the members who showed up to testify! This effort is a testament to the entire Colorado agriculture industry working together!

Happy Thursday Y'all!
We’ve been working the past couple of weeks getting our spring crop planters ready. Taking off the old, putting on the new, cleaning out the lines, and making sure everything is set so seeds will flow smoothly when it’s go time.
We’re excited to get back in the field and start planting corn, milo, and millet. Stick around and follow along as we share more about our spring crops and the work that goes into getting them in the ground.
