Come join us on Saturday September 12th for an open house viewing of our yearling bulls. This will be a great opportunity to visit with us one on one in person to discuss the bulls, ask questions and get answers.

We will not be taking deposits on bulls this day instead the bulls will all sell in an online auction on DV’s website 12 days after the open house. This new format will allow all interested buyers an equal opportunity at all the bulls at the same time, where with private treaty it was first come first serve.

We will be having lunch on the 12th so come eat and fellowship with us and don’t hesitate to give us a call.

It’s been a while since we have introduced ourselves and we have a lot of new followers, So welcome to our page. 😃

John & Eileen began raising registered Red Angus cattle back in the year 2000, purchasing our first females and a bull from the Pelton Ranch in Kansas. Prior we had raised registered Simmental’s and ran commercial cattle.

☄️Fast forward to today our herd is 100% registered mostly, Red Angus but we do still produce a few Simmental’s and a good number of Simangus as well. Not only is our herd a registered herd but all our cows, herd sires, and animals we offer for sale have all been DNA 🧬 verified with genomically enhanced EPDs.

👍🏻Our part of NC has a climate that lends itself more towards a fall calving season and we calve 100% in the fall. We market around 50-60 bulls annually selling them as fall long yearling bulls.We will be having an open house sept. 12 showcasing this years bulls, after the open house on Sept. 24 all the bulls will be sold in an online auction on DV auctions website. Along with cattle we also operate a large swine finishing operation contract finishing swine for Smithfield foods.

☀️Our oldest son John Michael has his PHD in Animal Breeding and Genetics and is a professor at ASU in Texas. Daughter Megan is in Nursing school. Son Hunter, his wife Brittney and their 2 children Maxton, &Charlotte are here on the farm and ranch.

🤠Langdon type and kind of cattle are moderate+ framed, free & easy moving, with base width and demension, easy fleshing, high performing, good footed with added heel depth, the cows are required to have neat teats and good udders.

Every once in a while in farming or ranching something happens and you are left wondering, how can this be?
And all we can figure is it was Gods will. If it went our way the good lord blessed us, If it didn’t go our way all we can say is it wasn’t Gods will.

Take this corn for instance it spent its entire life span under some pretty severe drought conditions and we have all been very concerned about making enough feed. Yet by the grace of God it has ears on it and isn’t burnt completely up. In fact it’s yielding pretty good, no this isn’t the best corn we have raised, but it will make some great feed and we are very thankful for it and over joyed it’s as good as it is🤠

🤠We would like to invite all of our current customers, past customers, perspective new customers and friends out for our Private Treaty Open House on Saturday, September 12, 2026 showcasing our coming yearling bulls this year🤠

These bulls were weaned off in May and have dead headed lots of 🔥100 degree days 🔥without very many daytime showers to cut the temps down. In spite of this, they are taking care of business, gaining weight and muscle through a stress environment, just like we expect.

-Additionally visitors will have the opportunity to view our bred and open replacement heifers and our entire registered cow herd. As well as our herd sires👀

-This week we worked all our cows through for the last time prior to calving🤠 which for us starts around mid September.

-we do a couple things to the cows on this trip through the chute.

1- is we give these cows a dose of Multi-Min. Which gives the cow a boost in vitamins and minerals which is crucial at this point in gestation and carries through calving and also helps with breed back a little later

2- we pour them again for flies, we have been in a drought most of the summer but we have been blessed with a lot of rain in the last 10 days. Moisture + Heat = heavy fly pressure, so we’re getting ahead of those.

3- lastly we take a few moments to analyze and score each mature cows feet, we do this to track changes in the foot over time under various environmental conditions they are exposed to.

🎉Happy Cow Appreciation Day🎉

Around here we love and appreciate great cows, and they are at the core of what we do with our cow herd.

This is Langdon’s Z022 she is the oldest tenured cow in our herd and has done a great job for a long time and is aging gracefully (14 yrs this fall)
