Nah, they are still fun. So thankful our Dusty girl has perked back up and acting more like herself already.

Manny, one of our TSC "pullets" is getting so big & beautiful. We are slowly letting him, safely, get acquainted with our laying girls & and hopefully, he'll be their rooster.

We plan to put our other TSC "pullet" (read roo) with his brooder mates & some of our BCM hatchlings & establish that flock separately. Which means I'll need a few more pullets/hens. For ratio purposes of course. 😅

🤞 they both stay chill & don't end up in a 🍲.

Mulberry season is here!!!

For jam, I like to pick the ones that aren't quite ALL the way ripe yet. This keeps the jam from being overly sweet.

I'm contemplating what else I want to use them for this year. Mulberry & lemon muffins sound really good!

Farm life is NOT for the faint of heart.

Some of our Black Copper Maran eggs hatched. 6 out of 12 so far. Unfortunately, one of the chicks was extremely deformed. Most likely, from a B vitamin deficiency in one or both of the parents.

I firmly believe in doing what is best for the animal. No matter how hard it is for me. I chose to mercy cull the chick. It was my first time having to cull a chick & it absolutely sucked. However, allowing the chick to suffer with the hopes of "saving" it would have been even more inhumane.

Thankful we do have 5 healthy chicks to bring up, and hoping with all my might we have some pullets in the mix.

I had a dear friend send me this amazing Henhouse Handbags bag, earlier this week. It is so adorable and is the perfect addition to my egg collecting devices.😆 I think it will be really great for collecting fruits & veggies in, too.
