By this time next week, Steel will likely have most of the buck pasture to himself, with a few bucklings headed to new farms and others likely headed to market. If you’ve been considering adding a Kiko buckling this year, now is a good time to reach out.

We still have a few really nice bucklings available offered as commercial. Send us a message with any questions before they’re gone.

Approaching 4 months old, a few nice Kiko bucklings are still available and looking for farms of their own. They’re thriving on pasture and in the woods, doing what Kikos do best.

Big day on the farm today as the first group of Kiko bucklings officially moved into their own pasture. We couldn’t be happier with how this year’s kids performed, posting the best weaning weights we’ve ever had on the farm with an average of 58.7 lbs. The top two bucklings both pushed nearly 68 lbs, and even one of the triplet bucklings came in at an impressive 59 lbs.

What makes it even more rewarding is that these Kikos were raised completely on mom’s milk and pasture grass with zero grain, zero wormer, and zero hoof trims. After years of focusing on herd improvement, it feels good to see the herd thriving naturally without issues.

For those who have reached out about bucklings, they are now available. They could move quickly, so don’t wait too long if you’ve been considering one. Feel free to message us with any questions or for more information.

Rotational grazing doesn’t just benefit our Kikos, it helps our cattle too, including Omaha, our young South poll bull. Every move across the pasture is part of a bigger goal in building healthier soil, feeding the herd naturally, and reducing the need for chemicals to control unwanted parasites.

It’s a slow process and definitely a long game, but we believe healthier land creates healthier animals and in the end, it’ll be worth the wait.

This weekend, our Kiko kids are hitting the 90-day mark so weaning time is just around the corner.

The calm and quiet in the pasture today will soon be replaced with a loud chorus from moms and babies as they head to separate pastures.

We’re seeing a few really nice commercial buck and doe kids starting to stand out, and we’re excited about how they’re developing.

Feel free to message us with any questions!

As our Kiko kids start approaching that 60-day mark, you can really begin to see them separate themselves from the group. Certain ones just start standing out from the rest.

A number of kids have caught our eye, including this purebred Kiko buckling, and hopefully earn their way onto someone else’s farm.

Just about another month or two before most of the kids are weaned…exciting times ahead on the farm!

When it’s recess here on the farm, no slides or swings needed for these Kiko kids, just an old log and a little springtime sunshine. www.6shooterkikos.com

Farmers know that caring for the land also means caring for the critters God placed on it. Good stewardship isn’t just about livestock, it’s about making sure wildlife has a place to thrive too.

Here on our farm, we’ve been blessed with an abundance of wildlife, including birds. According to the Merlin Bird ID app, we’ve recorded over 100 bird species on the property.

As soon as the fence posts went up around the pasture, the bluebird houses went up too. After a little annual spring cleaning and repair, we’re happy to see all 15 houses continue to used by bluebirds each year.

While walking the pasture we even spotted a Killdeer nest already, tucked along the fence line. Just another reminder of how much wildlife calls this place home and why we try to be good stewards of the land.

Kidding season is officially wrapped up here at Six Shooter Kikos Farm!

The 2026 season brought a great group of Purebred and New Zealand Kiko kids to the herd. With an average birth weight of 7.9 lbs, the babies are healthy, active, and growing fast.

Weaning will begin at the end of April, so if you’re interested in adding kikos to your herd, keep an eye on our website for details on the kids and their availability.

As always, feel free to message us here or reach out through the website if you have any questions.
