Memorial Day is more than a long weekend or the beginning of summer — it is a sacred reminder of the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. It is a day to pause, reflect, and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could live in freedom, raise our families in peace, and pursue the opportunities we often take for granted.

Behind every American flag placed at a gravesite is a story of courage, duty, and love for this nation. These heroes were sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, friends, and neighbors who answered a call greater than themselves. Their sacrifice built and protected the freedoms that unite our communities and define who we are as Americans.

Memorial Day also reminds us of the strength of community. Across towns and cities, families gather, flags wave proudly, and generations come together to remember that freedom is never free. It is our responsibility to keep the memory of these fallen heroes alive — not just today, but every day — by living with gratitude, compassion, and respect for one another.

As we spend time with loved ones this Memorial Day, may we never forget those who cannot be here to celebrate with their families. We honor their sacrifice, we remember their service, and we remain forever grateful for the price they paid for our nation.
