Here’s what is showing off at the farm this week:

📸 Snowmaiden scabiosa: I haven’t grown scabiosa in a few years but I decided to bring it back this year and I’m so glad I did. Tall, sturdy stems with the cutest white puff balls.

📸 snapdragons: cherry rose specifically. It’s like lipstick pink 💄 and sets off with light blue and yellow beautifully!

📸 larkspur: also hadn’t grown this in recent years and again, another great comeback! I grew lavender and white and they’re both lovely.

📸 nigella: again, grew more of this year and not upset about it. This Miss Jekyll dark blue is a winner in my book.

📸: and look who is making their appearance?? Lisianthus! Yall know we grow a lot of this lovely lady around here and the first buds are starting to show their faces. Only a week or two before we can start harvesting it.

Week 1 of summer subscriptions went out today and I love how they came together with a fusion of late spring/early summer blooms: delphinium, larkspur, campanula, mountain mint, statice, dianthus, and agrostemma. 🤩 What’s crazy is next weeks’ subscriptions will look completely different!

I can’t thank you all enough for another round of sold out subscriptions. 🥹

You know the Thursday drill, flower stands are stocked around NWA Hemma Homewares™️ , Hiwasse Mercantile , Half Baked Goodness , and Turnbuckle Farm .

We also sent a second round of flowers to help restock In Bloom Floral Company so again, THANK YOU! 🫶🏽

Sent out 13 recital bouquets this weekend for a local dance company and as a parent who’s seen many bouquets brought to various concerts, recitals, and shows to celebrate, I have a few thoughts.

I’ve often seen bouquets, obviously bought from a big box store and I totally get it. We’re all doing the best we can. You run in to grab allergy medicine and toilet paper, and oh yeah let’s grab flowers for the choir concert tonight. No judgment here. Convenience is king.

But these recital bouquets were a great example of how just one small shift to source locally makes such a difference AND it was convenient.

One staff/mom reached out about doing preorders for the recital, so we made a custom link that she then shared with families. Families placed their orders and we delivered them to the recital location an hour before. Easy peasy! We’ve done this the past couple of years and it keeps growing! 🥳

13 bouquets may not seem like a lot, but that’s 13 purchases that stayed in our community.

That helped pay our staff who also have kids in the community.

That helped our family buy gear at another local business for a daughter that’s trying a new sport for the first time in 9th grade.

13 bouquets that reduced demand for imported flowers, thus reducing our carbon footprint.

13 CLEAN bouquets that went into the hands of kiddos and weren’t covered in pesticides and preservatives.

So anytime you have an event that is usually celebrated with flowers, try to remember your local flower sources. We totally understand that buying locally isn’t always the most convenient option, so we’re always willing to do what we can to make local flowers more accessible. Gathering a group to do preorders is a great way to do this!

So many of you have sent such nice words of encouragement when you opened your mail to find ya girl on the pages of 🫣😁.

It was so fun to share a bit of our story alongside several other wonderful growers. Arkansas flower farmers are working really hard to make local flowers more accessible across the state and I’m really proud to be amongst them. If you’re not in NWA, be sure to find your local flower farmers and support them whenever you can!

Wouldn’t ya know, a variety that I only have one random tuber of, that I didn’t care to keep, that I didn’t dig up, protect from cold or rain or give ANY attention to, is the first dahlia to bloom two huge, healthy, stunning flowers. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 🤩

This whole thing really does feel like a guessing game most days 😁. Nonetheless, I’ll take them! Our overwintered dahlias are starting to trickle with a few buds and blooms and I’m here for it!
