This morning I saw a rainbow over my barn while Pete popped his head out of his stall.
A 🌈 symbolizes hope and better things to come 🫶
🐴Yesterday I thought we had a set back with dehydration but after coaxing him to drink some water, more electrolyte paste and an evening munching grass, he seems much better this evening. 🙏
I wanted a horse my whole childhood and I was blessed with Pete at 34 years old.
“Old Mr Webster could never define what’s being said between his heart and mine” ❤️ Until I had my own horse, I don’t think you can ever appreciate the love and comfort that comes from such a gentle giant. Continued prayers for a full recovery. Still waiting test results too 🥹

Taking the best care of Pete ❤️‍🩹 Treating him for Potomac Horse fever or a tick born disease. Crushing 55 tabs of doxycycline with a river rock in a bowl may be some backwoods WV sh*t but mixed with applesauce he is being a champ! Banamine for his fever. Electrolytes to keep him drinking. Molasses water, regular water, hand walk to grass multiple times today. His fan in his stall full blast 🙏 and the Bible of course ✝️ I can see improvement so keep the prayers coming he keeps on getting better 🥰
Lucy Ann just adds some positivity to the picture 🥰

Prayers for Petey 🙏! After noticing Pete hardly left his stall this afternoon but also being subtle lethargic too I decided to take his temperature and found he had a pretty high fever. I put the call into the vet. Asked my horsey friend for some tips and then hosed him with cold water for an hour and got his temp down a whole degree. When the vet came she confirmed the fever along with some dehydration. He got some IV meds and fluids with electrolytes and should be on his way to feeling better. This is my heart horse and I just want my main man feeling better asap. Please send good vibes, prayers, all the things for him to be fever free and back to normal in the morning 🙏
I feel like a dark cloud has been looming over my barnyard the past 2 months and I need him to pull through this 😓❤️
My animals are more than that, they are my family and best friends.

Holy Hay!! It’s been an exhausting HOT past two days but we put up a little over 500 more square bales from our friends fields. If only there was a bridge across the crick since the trailer can’t cross it because of the steep banks. Regardless our small team got the job done. Cut Sunday night. Dried Monday and tedded. Tedded again Tuesday morning. Raked and baled Tuesday afternoon. Started gathering the bales from the field around 6pm Tuesday evening. Went to sleep at midnight and woke up early to unload and load more. 🤪 oh yes and it was Me and 3 teens yesterday in 105 degree heat index temps. I ended the day with a bad headache but we got it all done ✅
Thank you everyone who helped out! Again, we appreciate you 🫶

Yesterday we sweat so much from gathering hay up from the fields and then unloading and stacking in the barn! 100 degrees with a 104 degree heat index. We are grateful and thankful for the family and kids that still show up to help us out each year. 🫶 we were done by 8pm and put up 436 square bales.
Two more locations to do yet but for now we get ready to head to our river cabin for 4th of July festivities 🇺🇸
