On October 7-8, join us for two days of music, crafts, food and games starring apple butter in kettles you can stir - all along the historic streets and park of Berkeley Springs. More than 100 vendors plus local shops.

Such a fun, creative design, and a perfect reflection of the spirit and personality that makes Apple Butter Festival so special. We’re so glad you were part of this year’s contest!

With nearly half of the total votes, this design clearly struck a chord… and we can see why. It’s bold, it’s memorable, and it’s going to look amazing on everything from t-shirts to totes to posters this fall. We truly cannot wait to see it everywhere.

We know there’s been a lot of conversation around AI and the tools artists use, and we want to say this clearly: we’ve seen the original sketches behind this design, and we know it started with a real idea and a real artist.

As technology continues to evolve, there are a lot of tools out there, and not all of them are easy to define. Some people are running designs through “AI checkers” and getting different answers, and even things like fonts or clean lines can raise questions, but those things alone don’t tell the whole story. Many artists today are using tools to bring visions to life, and at this time, there are no rules in place that say that isn’t allowed. It’s something we’ll continue to look at and define more clearly for future contests.

But for today, we’re keeping our focus right where it belongs: on the creativity, the talent, and the connection between artists and this community. 💛

Because at the end of the day, an artist created something meaningful, shared it, and almost 350 of you said “that’s the one.”

And THAT'S something worth celebrating.

So please, let’s celebrate the artists who shared their work, the community who showed up and voted, and the design that will represent the 51st Annual Apple Butter Festival this fall. 🍎✨

🎨🍎✨ Well… this is a first! ✨🍎🎨

After more than 750 GOOD votes (yes… we meant it when we said one vote per email address 😄 duplicates were removed!), we have something that has never happened before…

Second place is a TIE!

Even more special? Out of entries that came in from all over the world… both of these incredibly talented artists are from right here in Berkeley Springs. 💛

Each will receive a $150 prize for coming in second, and we are so proud to celebrate them and their beautiful work. A huge thank you to SC Studios for sponsoring this year’s Logo Contest and helping make it all possible!

Now… we know there’s been a lot of conversation about AI, not AI, and everything in between. At the end of the day, we’re all human over here, doing our best with the information we have. Next year we’ll have clearer guidelines in place… unless I’ve been replaced by AI by then, in which case all bets are off. 😉

What I can say is this… our top four would have all made amazing festival logos, and then we left it in your hands and YOU spoke to tell us which one was your favorite. I cannot wait to see the winning design on t-shirts, tote bags, posters, and everywhere else this fall. 🍎✨

If you’ve felt a little extra creative energy in the air lately… you’re not wrong. 😄 That can only mean one thing… it’s time for the 51st Annual Apple Butter Festival Logo Contest!

This year’s contest, proudly sponsored by SC Studios , brought in nearly 50 submissions from all over the world… and we mean that. From right here in Morgan County to as far away as Senegal 🌍🍎

Which means our judges had quite the task ahead of them.

A big thank you to Jean-Pierre & Carol Hsu of Hsu Studios, who carefully worked their way through every single design. And we have to say… Carol showed up in her Hsu Studios “Vote” t-shirt, which feels like a pretty perfect hint for what’s coming next. 😉

After spending some serious time reviewing all of the entries, their selections are ready…

👉 And this Friday, it’s YOUR turn.

We’ll be unveiling the selected designs and asking the community to vote for the one that will represent this year’s Apple Butter Festival. No pressure… just the official look of one of the biggest events of the year. 😄

🍎🧵✨ Unveiling the 51st Apple Butter Festival Quilt! ✨🧵🍎

We are so excited to share this year’s quilt for the 51st Annual Apple Butter Festival: “Celebration!”, created by the incredibly talented Mickie Sienko! When we first started talking about the design, we knew we wanted to honor something big - 250 years for both our nation and our town - so the idea was simple: patriotic… but apples. 🇺🇸🍎 And then Mickie took that idea and just ran with it.

This quilt is absolutely stunning. The red, white, and blue, the apples, the little gold stars, the way she wove in West Virginia blue and gold 💙💛… and then the stitching. Every section has its own pattern and personality, but somehow it all works together perfectly. The first time Mickie brought it into my office and opened it up on the conference table, I gasped and teared up - it’s that kind of piece.

👉 You’re going to want extra tickets for this one… just saying. 😄

A huge thank you to Kesecker Realty, Inc. for once again sponsoring the quilt (and for being such great models 😉). You can see it in person at their office, grab tickets there, at the Chamber office, online soon, and of course at the Apple Butter Festival. (A reminder, you do not have to be present to win!)
