Companion to Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, Lusus is the mythological
father of the Portuguese and the bringer of vines and wine making to the
Iberian peninsula. The History

From these mythological origins, a deep knowledge and appreciation for wine developed among the Portuguese people who eventually brought these traditions with them to new homes in California. Lusu Cellars Winemak

er, David Teixeira, grew up harvesting and making wines in this community, absorbing this knowledge as well as a deep respect for nature from his family. He now looks back on the traditions passed down as inspiration for each wine he makes. The Philosophy

Lusu Cellars strives to use age old methods to create wines that reflect their individual character and provenance. Wine is a labor of love for us and the process is just as important as the resulting product. Every moment is treasured when a grape, glass, or barrel is in our hands. Low production levels keep us deeply involved in every detail of each wine we make. We believe in gentle wine making, letting each year and location author the wines we release.
