From the land of Butter & Eggs, Barber Lee Spirits has a 100% Single Malt Rye, a Cask Exclusive with our sister bar Bourbon & Branch.

Look for notes of brown butter, brown sugar, cola, moist Christmas cake and citrus oil. Subtle rye spice notes come out more on the palate such as dill, mint and caraway. Finishes with touches on apricot pith.

From the Independent bottler AD Rattray’s Cask Collection comes this Speyside selection of Tomintoul 17 year. Tomintoul Distillery was established in 1964. It is relatively a young Scotch distillery considering there are over 30 distillers that are older than 200 years. The distillery is located in Kirkmichael, near the village of Tomintoul within the Cairngorm National Park at the highest elevation in the Scottish Highlands.

Our club bottle was distilled in May 2005 and bottled in February 2023. It is un-chill filtered at cask strength of 57.7% and aged in a 500 liter sherry butt. Look for aromas of ripe plum, sour cherry, and raisin. The palate has notes of red apple, walnut, and black currant. The finish has notes of blackberry jam with hazelnut and sultana.

San Francisco tasting on Thursday at 330-530 with Komasa Satsuma Gin.

The Sakurajima Komikan, Japan’s smallest orange, is the headliner in this elegant and minimally adorned shochu-based gin. Prized for their intense flavor, these tiny mandarin oranges are grown near an active volcano and require laborious care from growing season to harvest. They yield a gin that’s vibrantly flavorful and eminently sippable, and one that rewards deft handling in cocktails—a very dry Martini would be a first choice, a Gimlet riff or an amped-up White Lady if you’re feeling adventuresome.
