Heart Beets Farm is a four season certified Organic vegetable farm located in Berkley, Massachusetts Heart Beets Farm was started in 2014.

We rent land from Kettle Pond Farm, which is 35 acres of mixed-use farmland located between the Taunton River and Assonet Neck in Berkley, MA. Alex and Chris Houtzager own Kettle Pond Farm and it has been certified Organic since 2007. We currently grow vegetables on roughly 10 acres (manage 36 acres across three properties). Our main objective is to grow the most nutritious food possible using the best practices. The majority of our efforts are put towards scaling our vegetable production. We sell mainly through a growing CSA community, online Farm Stand and wholesale accounts.

“Hey, where is everybody?!”

Sometimes it’s divide and conquer and sometimes all hands on deck. Depends on the task, where it falls on the never ending to-list and weather. We’ve got a lot going on and a small crew, so a couple unintentional games of hide and seek are inevitable.

Summer Veggie Box, Week 16
A beautiful, mild mid-September is the perfect weather to appreciate some of the flavorful herbs this season. Maybe it’s time for roasted veggie soup with thyme, an eggplant and green river stir fry with thai basil or simple roasted potatoes with sage and butter. However you like it, it’s nourishing and delicious eating this week.

Potato harvest has been a pain in the ass thanks to sedge, horsenettle and the occasional New England rock. Regardless, the crew is pushing through and the yield ain’t too shabby. Quite a bit more to go!
