Wisconsin Spice was honored to attend the job fair Green Lake County High School Career Fair hosted by Inspire Wisconsin on April 23. The event brought together high schoolers from Berlin, Green Lake, Markesan, and Princeton, as well as 30 area businesses. During the keynote presentation, Wisconsin Spice CEO Al Sass shared his career path and offered students helpful advice about life after high school.

Wisconsin Spice team members talked with students about their post-high school goals, offered insights helpful to their career choices, and shared information about working at Wisconsin Spice (including opportunities for tuition reimbursement, leadership development, and career advancement).

Thank you to the students who attended for your thoughtful questions and enthusiasm. And thank you to Inspire Wisconsin and the other participating businesses for helping to shape the community's future workforce.

WSI employees helped bring some holiday cheer to five area children by donating 40 gifts, including clothing and toys, through the Boys & Girls Club of the Tri-County Area's holiday gift program. Thank you to the Boys & Girls Club for the good work they are doing in the community. We were thrilled to participate in their holiday gift program again this year.

Wisconsin Spice team members had a wonderful time kicking off the holiday season at the City of Berlin Holiday Parade. Thank you to the WSI team members who designed and built our float, decorated the Christmas tree in the park, and handed out candy and bottles of Uncle Phil's mustard during the parade. We were delighted to see so many happy faces!

We are excited to give back to the community by supporting families and children through the Boys & Girls Club of the Tri-County with our Giving Tree.

With heavy hearts, Wisconsin Spice shares the sad news that its founder, Phillip J. Sass, passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2025. While he took great pride in what Wisconsin Spice has become, he was most proud of the long-lasting relationships he built with employees, customers, and suppliers. The relationships were what mattered most to him and made his work with Wisconsin Spice meaningful.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 8. An avid fan of the Wisconsin Badgers, Phil was well-known for hosting spirited tailgate parties, so in place of a traditional visitation, the family will be hosting “Phil’s Final Tailgate” to honor his life and memory at Mastricola’s On Broadway in Berlin, Wisconsin from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be immediately prior at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Church. All are invited and encouraged to wear red and white.

Phil was many things to many people. Husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Coach, business owner, friend. Or simply “Uncle Phil.” He was loved and will be missed.
