Let highlight this guy💚

He came into our life after I lost the entire future of my alpine herd (at that time Jace didn’t have an investment in the alpines😅) to a freak infection. He not only allowed me to continue to at least breed that year, but he helped heal a little piece of a hole that will never fully close and for that I’m not sure if he will ever leave the property.

This guy is such a gentle giant. We would let our daughter lead him around in full rut because he’s such a respectful, level headed guy and he passes that chill personality to his offspring. He also loves passing on long, wide, and level rumps and general size and levelness.

We’ve gotten to freshen a couple daughters now and we love that he’s maintaining or improving udder texture and capacity.

We will be forever grateful to Terri for having this guy available at just the time I needed him!

And yes, this is him laying under a flake of straw Jace had just dropped down and yes…..those are the does he is to be breeding in the pen with him😂😂 He efficiently does his job and is still that chill 😂

It’s bbbbbaaaaaaaaaaccccckkkkkk!

Jake did a stellar job at basically building us a brand new furnace!

We got it all hooked up and it’s filling now so🤞 we can get the chill knocked out of our house! (Brick does a wonderful job at keeping in the cool which we only really appreciate in the summer😅)

Now if the weather cooperates for second cut it will be a practically perfect weekend 😂

Jace said at least it made the drive worth it😅

We made a last minute decision to try out a new to us show in New York since we weren’t able to show at our favorite show the beginning of August

We took 6 junior does- including the only alpine I decided to put on the trailer,
CFRR MA SECRT BLENDO HRBNSPICE
And she went Reserve Champion Alpine! She wasn’t in best form standing as she’s in a weird growing stage but she still looked level on the move and was commended on her straightness of front legs and rear angulation.

So exciting to see our hard work and decisions starting to come together!

This segways into our next herdsire highlight
MUNCHIN’HILL ABYSS
(He’s the sire of spice in case you didn’t catch that 😉)

Abyss is a guy that’s eager to do his job so we probably should have taken pics BEFORE we took him to see the ladies😂

Abyss brings a ton of length of body and level-ness to his kids and lovely rear leg angulation. We’re excited to freshen some daughters and see how much production and mammary elasticity he adds too!

He’s set to be used heavily this year, being paired with 11 does on the list and back up to 7.

This is Jace’s main man this year!

Taylor Ridge Aruba’s Atlas, lovingly known as “Fat Boi”, best be prepared.

He’s paired with 16 of the 34 does on the breeding schedule 😳😅

We love how correct this guy is and hope he passes that and the milk production behind him to his offspring!

Maybe we’ll make it through highlighting our bucks this year before I get distracted 🫠

We’ve been quiet…..because I’m a slacker 😅

But also things escalated quickly 🙈.

Two weekends ago we had a local welder come out to fix a leak in the side of our furnace. It hasn’t been running right for a couple years now and last winter was rough so we figured let’s try to make our lives easier this winter (and save a little money on coal).

Jake got it all fixed up and when we started to fill it- the bottom was leaking too 🤪

So we started unhooking it so we could take it to his place to be redone. That meant we also had to rework how we were getting hot water because our furnace heats our hot water and we were told it could take three months before it comes back 😳😳- I have too many diapers to wash to be without hot water that long!

So Jace had to rewire the hot water tank so it worked as a hot water tank and now I cry a little every time I turn on the hot water- pray for our electric bill 😂

The best fencing company around spent their Saturday getting the boys OUTSIDE ☀️!

The boys thought their barn was an upgrade…..they got super excited 🤩when the door was opened and they were released!

Big thank you to neighbor John for bringing over his post pounder and letting us use up most of his Saturday 🙏

Jace and Dad did the majority of the work for this project so they get all their usual thanks too! (Apparently Dad’s mission this year was “pastures” 😂)
