Carver Farms Recovery Ranch

Carver Farms Recovery Ranch We’re a generational farm shifting the focus to helping the community through education and outreach. CFRR is a generational farm that has shifted focus.

We kicked out the cows and brought in the horses and goats! We are taking the steps to obtain our non-profit status so we can work with at-risk youth and addicts seeking recovery. In the meantime, we're working on developing our dairy goat herd of Alpines, Toggenburgs, and a couple Experimentals for show and milk. We're also passionate about community outreach and education and love attending events where we get to educate others about animal therapy practices and our dairy goat herd!

They’re pretty sure we got the new shed for them 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

It’s the time of year we have every weekend booked and this past weekend was spent heading to Ohio.

It was our first time at this show, our first time doing two rings in two days instead on one, and our first weekend away in our trailer.

Jace has done some amazing work on the trailer and it was sooooooo nice to have this weekend! (Some pics of it at some point haha)

We really enjoyed being able to watch the other exhibitors show their animals. Jace helped out and even showed a Nubian buck!

We had a lot of doe placing at the top of their classes and 3 of them were able to bring home some rosettes for us.

Pallet Farms PDM Patience - the doe Jace won’t get rid of even though she hates me 🙄😂- brought home Reserve Champion Recorded Grade.

CFRR Ma Barista brought home Reserve Champion Junior Recorded Grade

CFRR MA SECRT BLENDO HRBNSPICE brought home Reserve Champion Junior Alpine

Big thank you to everyone at the show and at home who helped up get through the weeknd!
Esp poor kweighley who watched does run right up on the milk stand for us, but run away from them 🤦🏼‍♀️

Sorry Melissa……I fell asleep last night 🙈

I don’t like to milk in the cold, so I have no desire to keep does in milk when it’s cold.

BUT we want to be able to drink the milk all winter.

So I have wanted to can milk since we started milking goats! This year I finally accomplished that goal! They all sealed and are ready to be put away 😁

Hopefully I can keep it up because we’re going to need a lot more than 2.5gals 😂😂

You have to wait to see what’s under the towel because Polamalu and Peppa released their hostages yesterday!

Polly let them go a little before lunch. She delivered just fine but with being a first freshener, we’re never sure how they’ll respond to needing to take care of the kids 😅.
Fortunately our wonderful friend Keri volunteered her daughter as tribute 😂. Thank you to Alayna for running over and checking on everyone. Sorry she thought about coming at you 😂.

Then a little before 4 Peppa had two kids.

After a quick check we found out alllllllll the kids were does! This is only our third and fourth set of twin does born this year (anyone remember the first two that had twin does)

Jace takes the funniest kid pics 😂

Any guesses what’s cooling under the towel???

We have finished another round of kidding (the rest of the rounds are pretty easy 😅)!

One of our FF Alpines, Cilantra, gave us buck/doe twins. She pretty much kidded unassisted and quickly became a great mom. She isn’t horrible on the stand either. Win win!

Then Lukka (experimental) kidded with buck/doe twins also. She’s a great reminder of why we like to be around when they kid. We watched her labor through the night but Monday morning we could tell things were starting to happen. When we saw the bubble we went out to be around and good thing, the buck was coming first and thought his front leg should be scrunched up. Jace got that leg straightened out and both kids easily came out.

That puts the count at 29 total kids to hit the ground here so far.

Peppa and Polamalu are now waiting their turn in the kidding pens. One more round after that, then we’re done for the season!

What shows is everyone going to?! We’re on the hunt for some new ones 👀
