Carver Farms Recovery Ranch

Carver Farms Recovery Ranch We’re a generational farm shifting the focus to helping the community through education and outreach. CFRR is a generational farm that has shifted focus.

We kicked out the cows and brought in the horses and goats! We are taking the steps to obtain our non-profit status so we can work with at-risk youth and addicts seeking recovery. In the meantime, we're working on developing our dairy goat herd of Alpines, Toggenburgs, and a couple Experimentals for show and milk. We're also passionate about community outreach and education and love attending events where we get to educate others about animal therapy practices and our dairy goat herd!

The best fencing company around spent their Saturday getting the boys OUTSIDE ☀️!

The boys thought their barn was an upgrade…..they got super excited 🤩when the door was opened and they were released!

Big thank you to neighbor John for bringing over his post pounder and letting us use up most of his Saturday 🙏

Jace and Dad did the majority of the work for this project so they get all their usual thanks too! (Apparently Dad’s mission this year was “pastures” 😂)

Cheers to stretching those legs!

What a weekend!

We were supposed to start this project Friday but Jace worked late so in usual Recovery Ranch fashion we started behind the 8 ball 😅

Most everything Jace had to tear down was nailed so he had a ton of fun prying and removing nails so we could reuse the material 🙈

He got it finished today just in time for our friends kweighley and Alayna to help us move over the juniors. We are more grateful than they know for their help, they made the task SOOOOO much easier!

Now the juniors can actually get up to the feed trough 😂. A few things to finish up but that’s the story of our lives

We got all of our first cut up yesterday…..finally! So glad we moved to large square bales!

We ran to Altoona in the morning to get some gates and cattle panels and then came home to put up the hay. Got it all in before the showers came. If we were still doing small squares there’s no way we would have had the time to fit it all in before the showers came.

Then as we were driving home from town in the evening we followed a double rainbow to our place!

Today we celebrate Father’s Day by pulling down the remainder of the fence and posts so they can start putting up the new one tomorrow.

Is it better than doing hay on Father’s Day? We’ll see 😂

Happy Father’s Day to all the “legendairy” Dads!

Our trip to Indiana was prompted by this accidental purchase 🙈😂

“How do you accidentally purchase a goat?!” …….we’ve been asked this quite a bit as we’ve told friends of our upcoming trip to Indiana.

So here’s the story of Name It…..

The National Toggenburg Club was having an online sale and part of the proceeds were going to go towards the youth scholarships they give out. We’re suckers for supporting the youth soooo we decided to place some max bids on some animals thinking we would never be the high bidder.

As the sale was coming to a close we were still the high bidder on this doe and we ended up being the winner bidder ….oops 😅……at this point we didn’t even know where the doe kid was located.

Fortunately for us she was close so we were able to transport her ourself. We also got to pick her name, and since this was a year of fun names we had a little fun.

We found out the owner of this doe kid is a youth breeder which made it even more worth it for us! He was also being recognized for his 4H ten years the evening we picked her up- Congratulations to him!

So we are officially introducing Jace’s new Toggenburg doeling

THE LWN YOU NAME IT

You can see her in person at the Laurel Highlands Dairy Goat Association Summer Wrap-Up where she will make her show debut!
