It's not been a great day.
I know like the weather, it will change, but it doesn't make today any more palatable.
I saw this daddy longleg while out doing chores. He's got five legs. Three have been lost along his way. I can daydream about how they left. But it will be a daydream, and it doesn't change they're gone.
Does he think about the three he's lost? Is he thankful for the remaining five? Is he angry about how they were taken? Does he question God and the universe? Or is he content just being a five legged guy? Is he content?
I find as I get older I have so many questions. Deeper than when I was young and life seemed endless. I'm aware of my mortality, the finite nature of everything, the impermanence of it all. Sometimes none of it seems to have any meaning. There's no great plan, is there. The Mexican culture has dia de los mu***os. You're not really gone if your family remembers you. What is the mark I will leave? What's my legacy? If I'm to be honest, I'm not really a peach. What does it all mean? Why are we a dissatisfied species? Why, when all is well, do we seemingly manufacture problems? How, short of joining a monastery in Nepal, (it would take two days tops til I got the boot) do I figure out how to quiet the brain?
I think, therefore I am... a what?
