Twas the morning of Christmas, before first morning light,
All the cows were sleeping except one heifer full of might.
She found a hole in Farmer Joe’s fence and really gave him a fright—
For she bolted down the pasture, hooves kicking in delight.

Joe stumbled from the farmhouse, boots half‑laced and coat too tight,
Muttering “Not today, darlin’, I ain’t chasin’ you at first daylight.”
But the heifer had adventure on her mind, tail raised like a kite,
Off to see what Christmas looked like beyond the ranch’s sight.
