We may be months away from being able to welcome visitors (and the animals), but we had a great evening with the original Far Out kids. They serve as our official kid's "focus group," providing valuable insight into all things fun on a farm. We can officially say that parts of the farm have been designed "for kids, by kids."

Horses for the Rest of us!

Let’s be honest: horses can be an intimidating—and expensive—hobby. But at Far Out Farm, we believe the joy of being in the saddle should be for everyone.

We are so excited to share that construction is officially underway on our new 80x160 foot outdoor riding arena!

Our riding program isn’t about training for the Rolex or even the State Fair. We aren't here for blue ribbons; we’re here for the connection, the fresh air, and the sheer fun of good horsemanship.

Alongside private and group lessons, we’re introducing something we call "Club Lessons." These are informal, social sessions for groups of 4-6 people of similar ages and skill levels—think homeschooled kids, moms, or senior women who want to gather for "horse time."

Horses are expensive the keep, especially the way we do it (full-time pasture, keeping them for life). By having a slightly larger horse-to-human ratio, we can make these sessions more affordable. It’s a pro-social way to groom, ride, and learn together. It’s less about "drills" and more about the "pleasure" of being around these majestic animals.

Whether you’re 8 or 80, if you’ve always wanted to be a "horse person" without the high-pressure competition, we’re building this arena for you.

More Than a Farm—A Cure for the "Loneliness Epidemic"

If you spend any time on local community pages, you see it everywhere. Moms asking where to meet other moms. Newcomers asking how to start over. People just looking for a place to belong. There's a "loneliness epidemic" happening right now, and it’s because the world has changed in a way that doesn't always support the in-person communities we used to take for granted.

We believe Far Out Farm can help bridge that gap.

We aren't building a high-traffic, "get 'em in and get 'em out" attraction. We're building an intimate, pro-social environment. Whether you're joining a horse club, attending an event, or dropping in for a membership visit, every activity is created with the intent of bringing people together.

It’s easier to make a friend when you’re both victims of an emu's jewelry theft or learning how to groom a camel. By engaging with animals, rural spaces, and art, we find a common ground that’s been missing.

We don’t just want you to see the animals. We want you to see each other. Let's rebuild our communities.

So... what is Far Out Farm? We get asked this a lot. Are we a venue? A riding school? A petting zoo? A retreat?

The answer is: Yes. And a little more.

We built this place to be a "Choose Your Own Adventure" for connection. Whether you live down the road or you’re driving in for a day trip, here is how you can be part of the farm:

FOR THE LOCALS (The Regulars) If you want to put down roots and make us part of your weekly rhythm:

Riding Lessons: Real horsemanship for all levels.

Clubs: Join the Animal Care Club or the Gardening Club (get your hands dirty and learn something real).

Mommy & Me: Gentle mornings for the littles to connect with nature and other moms.

Memberships: The ultimate backstage pass. Members get special daily drop-in privileges to just come breathe, walk, and visit the animals whenever they need a break.

FOR THE CELEBRATIONS If you want a venue that feels magical but stays grounded:

Birthdays & Baby Showers: celebrate life without the stress.

Unfussy Weddings: For the couples who want a day focused on love, nature, and good vibes (not perfection and stress).

FOR THE EXPLORERS If you’re visiting the area, or just want a one-time escape:

Private Animal Encounters: This isn't a walk-by petting zoo. Book a private session to truly meet the animals—up close, personal, and unlike anything you’ve done before.

Family Sundays: We open the gates to the public every Sunday for good old-fashioned family time.

Boutique Events: Keep an eye out for our special seasonal pop-ups and workshops throughout the year.

Whether you’re here for a wedding, a weekly lesson, or just a Sunday stroll, the goal is the same: Slow down. Connect. Be here.

"Too Big for the Bus"

Meet the heavyweights. (Literally.)

If you ever visited the petting farm at Kings Island, operated by our sister farm Honey Hill Farm, you probably met these two. This is Scotty (Scottish Highland) and his bestie/shadow, Merida (Highland x Yak cross).

They were the official cows of the park, and they were stars. But recently, they found themselves... unemployed.

Through no fault of their own, they were laid off. The reason? They just kept growing. And growing. And growing.

In the mobile petting zoo world, there comes a day when you are just too big be portable. You graduate from "Travel Size" to "Pasture Size."

This is exactly why Far Out Farm exists. We needed a place where our "too big to travel" friends could retire from the road and just be cows, while still getting the attention they deserve.

Scotty and Merida are going to be stars again soon, and we are counting down the days.

Coming in 2026: Two farms. One leadership team.

We had our annual meeting today and there was A LOT to talk about!

These people are all remarkably skilled and competent, but that was not at all evident when we were trying to line up for this selfie.

We've got some more tea to spill.

We're so excited to announce that Honey Hill Farm veteran Brandy Mello has been named the Venue Manager for Far Out Farm!

This wasn't a hard selection process. We've been developing the concept of a second, stationary farm for our animals for years, but it was Brandy's specific kind of passion and creativity with the animals that served as the inspiration for the relaxed and intimate vision for Far Out Farm.

There's nothing that Brandy loves more than helping people forge connections with our animals. Combine that with the super legit operational skills she has shown at Honey Hill Farm for years and asking her to pioneer this exciting (and scary!) new project was an absolute no-brainer.

In her new role, Brandy will design all of our original activities, like animal themed Mommy & Me classes, horseback riding clubs, birthday parties, and the community garden. And she has hit the ground running, already meeting with members of our local community to plan programs that will enrich the lives of our neighbors and of animal lovers of all ages.

If you've got dreams of what Far Out Farm could mean for your family, you can reach out to her directly at [email protected].

Otherwise, please join us in congratulating her on this new adventure!

Meet Johnny Walker: our resident Mammoth Donkey and a very large lesson in "impulse buying." 😂🫏

While the rest of our donkey crew are miniatures, Johnny is... well, he’s a giant. He came to us broke to ride, but we quickly learned that Johnny has his own ideas about how he spends his time.

He is incredibly sweet and affectionate, but he also possesses the physical strength and ironclad force of will that only a large donkey can have. At Far Out Farm, we have a rule: you don’t really do anything with Johnny without his "express consent." And let’s just say, Johnny is very selective with his signatures!

Because of his size, we originally thought he’d prefer life with our horse herd. But Johnny knew exactly where he belonged. He turned his nose up at the horses and went right back to his people—the mini donkeys.

It is a truly ridiculous sight to see this massive guy standing in the pasture surrounded by all his "little friends," but he is their self-appointed leader and protector.

We created Far Out Farm for animals exactly like Johnny Walker—the ones who might not "fit the mold" of a working animal, but who deserve a permanent home where they can lead their best lives on their own terms.

Remember Your Grandparents’ Farm? 🚜❤️

We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what’s missing in our fast-paced world. For many of us, it’s that "place in the country"—the feeling of belonging on a farm that many of our parents or grandparents had.

We want Far Out Farm to be that place for you.

We are currently developing a Membership Program designed to give you the kind of access to rural space and animals that you just can't find elsewhere. While we’re still researching and fine-tuning the details, our goal is simple: to make you part of the family.

As a member, your contribution helps cover the overhead and growth of the farm. In return, you’ll get:

• ✨ Daily drop-in privileges to enjoy the peace of the pasture.
• ✨ First access to our riding clubs and special classes.
• ✨ Deep connections with residents like Camille and Johnny Walker through interactions not available to the general public.

We want to know our members by name, and we want you to know us. We have been "closed to the public" for too long, and Far Out Farm will give us the perfect place to finally open our gates and grow together.

What would you love to see in a farm membership? Tell us in the comments—we’re building this for you!

Meet Camille. 🐫✨

Camille came to us at Honey Hill Farm in the late 20-teens with the potential to be a superstar. Her previous owners loved her dearly, but camels aren't horses—and being raised like one left Camille with some unique quirks.

Because she didn’t grow up with her own kind, Camille never learned the "social graces" of being a camel. She actually prefers her own company over other camels! She also developed a habit called "weaving"—a rhythmic swaying often seen in stalled horses. Even in our wide-open pastures, Camille still weaves when she’s anxious. And when she's hungry. And when she's happy. She's our dancing girl.

Camille is a soulful lady with so much love to give, but she’s also an anxious traveler. When she gets stressed, she shows it physically by losing her hair. It doesn't take much. She once lost all of her hair because Zac didn't come to the farm for a few weeks.

We once tried to rehome her with another camel keeper, but when they couldn't keep her, she came right back home to us during Covid.

It was then we realized: Camille doesn't want to be a traveling star. She just wants to be home star.

At Far Out Farm, Camille finally has the permanent sanctuary she needs. Here, she can receive specialized attention and all the love she wants without having to travel for it. When you visit, you’ll get to meet this sensitive soul and learn all about the fascinating world of camel care.

Come say hi to Camille—she’ll be the one swaying to her own beat!
