Local Yokel hits the taps TODAY! An American Pale Ale brewed with 100% of Root Shoot Malting's Genie Pale malt. This year Root Shoot Malting is celebrating 10 years operating as a craft malting company and 100 years as a 5th generation family farm.

Local Yokel was first brewed 10 years ago when John wanted to brew a beer with 100% local ingredients. Our brewery was proudly the first craft brewery to purchase and brew with Root Shoot's craft malt. Today, City Star uses Root Shoot Malt as their base malt in nearly all their beers.

Root Shoot Malting operates just north of Berthoud, CO as a craft malting company. Their efforts in regenerative farming and bringing community together align with City Star's mission of sourcing local, supporting small and growing partnerships with neighbors.
