Napa gets the headlines. The Front Range gets the wind.

Our location in Larimer County sits at the convergence of two distinct air masses โ€” the warm, dry downslope winds off the Rockies and the cooler moisture from the plains. The result is a micro-climate that dries out the canopy fast, keeping disease pressure low.

What that means practically: we don't fight botrytis the way winemakers in wetter regions do. Our challenge is water management and frost mitigation.

If you're scouting land for a hobby vineyard in Colorado, elevation and wind exposure matter as much as soil.

Most wine regions harvest in August. At the base of Colorado's Front Range, we're often still watching sugar levels well into October.

High-altitude viticulture plays by different rules. Shorter growing seasons force the vine to work harder โ€” concentrating flavors, building acidity, and developing complexity that warmer climates simply can't replicate.

Larimer County sits above 5,000 feet. Our vines experience wide diurnal temperature swings โ€” hot days, genuinely cold nights โ€” and that stress is actually a gift to the fruit.

Harvest here isn't a date on a calendar. It's a conversation between the grower and the vine.

With the second year of growth in full-swing, I'm excited to see the new vines planted this year, doing so well. We have planted Chelois and Marรฉchal Foch to the mix - both reds.

After growing for most of the summer, it's time to remove the tubes that have been protecting the newly planted vines to let them harden before Fall.
