🌽Harvest 2026 is finally underway! 🌽
Today was our first official day of harvest, and judging by the activity in the area, we certainly aren’t the only ones rolling.
It’s been a challenging year. Wet weather kept many farmers out of the fields later than usual, and now that things have finally dried out enough to go, it’s full steam ahead.
Harvest is always an exciting time. It’s the culmination of an entire growing season and finally a chance to see what all those months of work produced. But it can also be a stressful time. The days are long, sleep is short, equipment breaks, plans change, and patience can sometimes run a little thin.
So maybe this harvest season, we can all give each other a little extra grace.
The lines at the elevators are going to be long. Truck drivers will spend more time waiting than they’d like, while farmers sit in the field waiting for those trucks to get back. Elevator employees will be doing their best to keep up with everyone arriving at once. There will be slow-moving equipment on the roads and a whole lot of people trying to make the most of every good weather day we’re given.
Everyone is doing the best they can, and this year especially, we’re all in the same boat.
Here’s to a little more patience, a little more kindness, and a little more understanding when things don’t go quite according to plan.
We’re praying for good weather and a smooth harvest, for safety on the roads and in the fields, and for everyone climbing into a truck, tractor or combine each day. And we’re thinking about the families at home who sacrifice during these long days, too.
After waiting so long to get here, we’re grateful to finally see the dust flying.
