Kuck Ranch

Farm and Ranch The Kuck Ranch began in 1957 with the marriage of Leroy and Loretta Kuck.

They started with only five commercial cows and grew their herd to 1,100 by 1983. One key to their success was the marketing and selling of their cattle through a local sale barn - Lexington Livestock Market of Lexington, NE. As with any business or commodity there have been cycles and changes to the cow herd resulting in some years of dispersal and other years of rebuilding. The Kuck Ranch today

consists of grandparents, Leroy and Loretta Kuck, son Kallen Kuck, and grandson Abe Kuck and Abe's brother-in-law Thane Motis. When Abe came into the operation in 2000, the cow herd took a change of direction by becoming a registered herd. This change from a commercial herd to a registered herd occurred via three drafts of 80 bred registered Angus females from the former Stevenson Basin Angus Ranch of Hobson, Montana. The purchase agreement included the bull calves to be marketed by and prepared for sale at the Annual Basin Angus Ranch Production Sale. With the complete dispersal of the Basin Angus cow herd in 2010, we decided to take the opportunity to return to Lexington Livestock Market (Lexington, NE) to sell our bulls and continue to do so.

🚨 Yes… our bull sale is this coming Tuesday, but anyone who knows our program knows how much emphasis we put on the maternal side. Because of that, we’re especially proud of the heifer offerings in this year’s lineup. There are some really nice females selling on February 10th. One of the highlights is pictured below:

If you ask Abe, Lot 136 might be the one he’s still questioning why we’re letting go of this year… She’s one of the best heifers in this sale, and she checks a lot of boxes from a maternal and production standpoint.

This Quarterback daughter is the kind that’s hard to part with, sound, functional, and backed by breeding we trust. 🛑⏰With the sale just one week away, Lot 12 continues to draw a lot of interest, and for good reason.
