😋 🐇 Rabbit Pot Pie!
A new recipe for us and a delicious hit with my kiddos.👩🏻‍🍳 Missed a before picture but even without the hubby here we polished off almost the whole thing. 🙌🏻 Anyone else get really excited when you get zero complaints or whining about what’s for dinner? 😁

Mille Fleur D’uccle Roosters up for grabs. Around 9 weeks now. Photo 2 is mom, photo 3 is a reference photo for adults of the breed. They will just become dog food at our house. They are a bantam so tiny Roos with big attitudes 😆

So in love with this beauty. She will be replacing her momma in the fall as our new Rex breeding doe. I love tri color and hopefully we will be producing many more come fall. 😍 She does have some siblings up for grabs if anyone is looking for meat rabbits message me.

The ladies are really producing now! They are free ranging and enjoying the sunshine. ☀️ Happy Chickens=yummy eggs. I have a few dozen eggs for sale if you need some let me know. $3.5🥚

I can’t even tell you in words how happy these rainbow eggs make me! 😍 Some days these small joys make my day so much brighter.

Also one of my children decided the price point on this dozen is $15.60?!? A bit pricey but I think he understands that they are pretty valuable around here. How do you put a price on something that while we don’t actually produce it we do put in a good investment of time and love to enjoy it?

Warm days mean more beautiful 🥚 eggs! 😍 we have been enjoying being outdoors and our chicken ladies are also thankful for all the recent sunshine! ☀️ My future goals include a rainbow 🌈 of chicken egg varieties. Looking forward to adding a few more ladies to the flock this year. 😊

Hopefully we will start getting a few more eggs and can soon share some of these delicious beauties with our friends and family.

For the last several years we have been diving deeper into homesteading practices and projects. We truly enjoy doing life this way. It’s just such a satisfying feeling to raise/grow/bake/cook your own homegrown food. Yesterday brought an end (for now) to one of my favorite parts of homesteading… our meat rabbits. Trying to give myself some grace in ending a good thing for the sake of a personal break amidst a busy schedule. It has been a tug of war in my mind but I’m at peace with our current decisions.

And just like that we are down to one rabbit. She was never even supposed to be a keeper and now she is our one and only rabbit. Sweet Brave gets to live out her days here on the hill.

Rabbit Korma… one of our fav go to rabbit recipes. Have you tried rabbit? Any favorite recipes to share?? We are always looking for new recipes to try.

Side Note: I know a lot of my friends are reluctant to eat a “cute” little bunny. I get it. They do have a cuteness factor, but much of that is imagined or exaggerated by modern media. Rabbits really aren’t easy pets and most are rarely the sweet little snuggly creatures of our imaginations.

They are however a very sustainable and nutritious form of meat. And I can assure you that each one of our rabbits are well cared for (and yes even loved) before they become a meal to feed our family.

It’s been a year of some big changes and hard decisions for our family. Unfortunately I need to give up my rabbitry for the time being. I definitely don’t think this will be a forever change! I have at least 2 more breeding rabbits to part with. If any of my friends are looking to get started in meat rabbits please let me know asap… I would love for them to go to a good home and help someone else get started with a quality meat rabbitry.
