Well this summer has been a hell of a ride! Made lots of hay, added sheep to the homestead, started work on a barn, and we still have calves on the way. A toast to the season. I'm ready for winter 😮‍💨

Tagged and bagged! This was a highly aggressive doe I had tried to work with for months to help lower her overall fear and aggressive behaviors, but ultimately I made the call to cull her. While culling is always tough, keeping a workable line of meat rabbits is of high importance to me, and the last thing I want to breed into my rabbits is a fear response so strong that I can't even look at them.
Because this rabbit was so old it'll be going into the crockpot, probably as a curry.

Newest addition to the farm, geese! Built their pen and shack in a day with T posts, pallets, old tin, and cattle panels. They're pretty fun to watch, and I'm crossing my fingers they'll be successful hatching out the eggs they have right now. Would love some goslings this season!

We have babies hatching! These ones were hatching all night so I hardly got any sleep, but despite that I'm very excited for my first ever hatch. These are a barnyard mix of green eggers, lace wyandottes, Rhode island reds, leghorn, australorp, and a Rhode island red rooster. I won't be selling this batch, but the next batch of 26 should be for sale in mid May.
