Today marked the annual 7th grade field trip to Chapman Brook Organic Farm. The students have been engaged in reading, learning essential vocabulary, and mathematical problem-solving centered around organic gardening.
It was a huge success. They did a fantastic job following the written steps to pot up and label plants, as well as following the steps to plant lettuce.
Their free-choice option was almost unanimous, clearing the pond outlet and restoring water flow, which entailed working in muddy conditions - apologies are extended to parents for the muddy clothes. Some students opted for deep weeding in the warm greenhouse.
The scavenger hunt was super fun. The girls scored the last clue and took off with the b***y leaving the boys behind. They did eventually share. ☺️
Overall, the event was a success, underscoring the value of experiential learning and its real-world applications. And boy oh boy were they hungry!

We have officially outgrown the former dining room as our prop house. We are striving for more room to grow and better air quality in the house overall. So we have turned our former hoarder porch into the new prop room. We went from hoarder to prop house in 5 hours, and some dump runs. It took every executive function known to man to pull it off.
We’re not done decorating what we call the partridge room, but it’s wonderful to have that space back in our lives and space for our family.

Tomorrow is bittersweet.
It’s the last farmstand of the season. We can’t thank our loyal customers enough. Without you we couldn’t do what we do. We’re already planning and scheming and wanting to fast forward to next spring. Until then! ❤️

Chapman Brook Organic Farm update:
Open Friday & Saturday 8-5.
*Even though it's back to school for me, the gardens are still in summer mode.
We have tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, fingerling potatoes, poblano peppers, a few pints of shishimai peppers, sweet peppers, onions, lettuce (including a few bags of a new fall mix in addition to our summer leaf mix), zucchini, carrots, beets, kale, basil, cukes, and a very limited amount amount of baby broccoli and organic corn.
*Corn should be abundant next Friday, September 5th which will be the LAST farm stand day of the season.
*Gorgeous, mixed dahlia bouquets from Stalk & Pistil Flower Farm are at the stand this weekend. Get yours early...they go fast!

-Please think about joining the Mahoosuc Arts & Agricultural Tour on Sunday, September 7th. Chapman Brook Farm will be offering a self guided tour of our operation and pick your own carrots from the carrot patch.

Chapman Brook Farm is open Friday & Saturday 8-5 with all the things... but no corn yet. Fingers crossed for next weekend!
The tomatoes are extra beautiful this week with $1, $2 and $3 choices.
