Oh Narcissus. I love them madly for the early spring glaringly bright space they hold in my heart. Absurdly cheerful as they break out of the long winter underworld. Bringing me back to life, stunning the senses after such cold bleak months, warranting the namesake from greek mythology for its beauty and being the flower that Persephone plucked to get her down under. We get narcissus flowers because we have winter. We get to enjoy them because they have withstood the cold. They need vernalization to bloom. And as much as I complain about winter, I might need it as well.

In love and appreciation and in my own self promising motivation to make personal art with flowers this season, I took an afternoon to honor the daffodils and every deeply spring rooted connection they bring up within me.

Myself and every other horse girl shouting out about the year of the horse rn. . But truly, there are some real perks in tapping in and I’m here for it as much as the next person who loves a good spring inspirational reset.
I don’t know how this year of the horse will be expressed or realized, what forms of freedom or strength may be embodied, whether we have done the necessary shedding required, or even if I believe this year via the Chinese calendar to be any different or more profound than what our daily work and intentions will make of it. However, I do know how horses are teachers, built of strength and inherent freedom, reflectors of our inner state and reminders to show up fully present. A worthy beast to enthusiastically situate our year around.

Spent the better part of last week hauling around and fluffing up thousands of potted grasses with Rachel for a TWP show for NYC fashion week. Yes we felt like Bad Bunny halftime grass people, yes is an incredibly organized boss bitch and talented floral artist to work with, and absolutely yes I of course hauled loads of these fluffy Mexican Feather Grass back to Vermont with me.

It’s not all encompassing, but neither is it cheesy or dismissive within our current climate to acknowledge how much we need art. we need more poetry to soften and speak to our core, and we need to be reminded of love. Things are bleak. creative problem solving is an art.
I went to Madrid this past week to learn from and alongside florists from around the world. We made art with flowers. It felt both frivolous what we were doing and deeply essentially inspiring to be creative and asking more questions. Problem solving skills are essential, in floristry, in farming, in life, in protest…a worthy muscle to work so as to not lose hope of what could be.

This was a fun one from July. It was a humid scorcher of a day for Eryn and Jamie ’s wedding at Mountain Top Resort. We hustled, and fretted over every sweet little flower detail.. as we do every time. Even made extra back up bouquets just in case these airy numbers refused to recover after their time out of water. seeing from the photos it appears they held up just fine. Then, with time to kill between set up and break down we went to the rodeo.
I can always count on to come through with the drool worthy detail shots, so here are a few of the flowery highlights from this joyous summer party on the mountain.
