The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the bipartisan Common Cents Act, marking an important step toward modernizing America's coinage system.
For independent bars, taverns, and package liquor stores, cash transactions remain an important part of doing business. Establishing a clear, consistent national framework for rounding cash purchases after the penny is phased out will reduce uncertainty, simplify day-to-day operations, and help ensure a smooth transition for both retailers and consumers.
American Beverage Licensees was proud to work alongside a broad coalition of Main Street business organizations in support of this legislation. We appreciate the bipartisan leadership that made House passage possible and look forward to continuing our advocacy as the bill moves to the Senate.
