100 degree day 1 finally cooled off so apparently we adventure while I make sure the last tractor is ready to go. Margarita is never dull!

Well Margarita has moved into the yard. Mommy passed away yesterday from what I can only assume was a healing complication from the c-section. She was fine then just gone. The cats are getting to know their new friend and she seems content walking around smelling things. Cattle are a social animal. She's to small to go with the fall heifers so for now she is my buddy.

Update on newly named Margarita
Face looks great today! Wants to get up but her front leg joints are still swollen... so lots of lifting for me today. Mom aka Yelena was super interested in what I was doing when feeding Margarita. Slow progress but progress. Worst case scenario I have a yard pet. 🤷‍♀️

Sometimes we have an oops and Sometimes we get a miracle. This is a heifer, she should not have been bred. Why she's still home and why I knew it was most likely gonna be a vet visit. Last night it stormed bad. Super high winds trees are down everywhere. To the north roofs and yards in rough shape. When did she start calving...I am not sure. I found her with one leg out, my guess had been working for a while. The hoof was big enough to make an easy call to the vet. I wasn't gonna get it out the back. She took a trip, had a c-section and somehow the calf was alive. Few things surprise me but this did. Her head may be a little swollen for the moment but she is alive, fed and safe. Hopefully mom takes her or I have a new buddy. Just another day!
