Pins and Needles Club! 🧶

We had a great turnout for the Pins and Needles Club meeting this week! It was exciting to see so many students interested in learning how to crochet.

Our goal is for each student to make a granny square and combine them into one crocheted blanket to be included in the May Art Show! If you’re interested in joining, it’s not too late!

We meet during homeroom in Miss Gadberry’s homeroom. Students are encouraged to bring their own yarn and crochet hooks to work on their projects!

No experience is necessary, and all students are welcome. We look forward to seeing what everyone creates!

This week in Culinary, we got a little hands-on with kitchen and food safety!

Students learned about the importance of proper handwashing and then put their skills to the test using a special germ glow lotion. After washing their hands, students were checked under a black light by Miss Gadberry to see what spots they missed.

It was a fun way to see just how important it is to wash our hands thoroughly when working with food!

❤️United Way's Day of Caring 2026❤️

Mrs. Gilmore’s Community and Social Service classes helped with the United Way’s Day of Caring. Half of the students went to PACE while the other half went to Helping His Hands. And of course ended the day with La Fiesta and a "pop stop". The students were able to help someone, learn something, and have fun!

Thank you to PACE and HHH for letting us volunteer and teaching the students about community resources. And thank you to Mr. Bob Hunt for driving!

Then next Friday during United Way's Day of Caring Mrs. Gilmore’s NK Community and Social Services classes will sort all the items you bring! Several of our culinary students had the opportunity to attend a field trip yesterday, and it was such a meaningful experience! One of our stops was Procopio’s Pizza & Pasta restaurant.

A few weeks ago, students learned about regional and international cuisine, including cannolis. When Miss Gadberry asked if anyone had ever tried one before, almost all of the students said they hadn’t. Even more surprising—none of them had ever been to Procopio’s!

We are so glad these students had the chance to step outside their comfort zones, visit a locally owned restaurant, and try something new. Experiences like this are what make learning come to life ❤️

A special thank you to Procopio for taking the time to speak with our students about his culinary career and, of course, cannolis! And thank you to the wonderful staff who took such great care of us.
