Exciting day on the farm today! I lost my bee hive late summer last year. Sometimes you never know why, but best I can tell is I lost my queen. It happens. Was sad to see it happen, but it happens. So back to square one this year. Swarm trap was put up April 1. And today we caught another one!! Starting over isn’t so bad when the bees are free!! Sorry, no pictures because we found them late this evening and got busy making preparations to move them. Hopefully we have better success this year!

Getting some good use out of my Christmas gift. Basement smells SO good with all these batches of tallow and goat milk soap scented with essential oils!! Getting stocked up and ready for farmers market season kicking off in May!!

Luffa harvest time!! With light snow and 24 degrees expected Monday, I had no choice but to harvest these beauties. Although it’s best (and quickest) to let them dry on the vine, they will do fine in the basement with the dehumidifier. This is 3 of the 4 wagon loads. I had already harvested 10 that dried on the vine. A total of 177 luffas!!! The longest came in just over 25 inches!!

The luffas are still blooming and growing well despite the cooler nights! Notice the one who took off up into the oak tree!!

Our handmade tallow soaps!! At this time we do not offer shipping due to the high costs of shipping and low stock. Plans are to beef up inventory over the winter months so that we can offer shipping to anywhere in the US!!

There’s a bit of a lean to the land here in WV. Not flat like TX. A bit nerve wracking when trying to cut on the tractor.

Spent the day working with this fine, made in USA, pressure canner! We also used the water bath canner. Lots of green beans and fresh salsa put up today to enjoy throughout the year!
