This is a perfect example of how a dry run and preparing your cattle can pay off in dividends when it matters…These bred heifers were were due to come in for their pre-calving shots and we were pretty much out of time. We had a very small window of weather to get them in and worked between a horrendous winter storm that just moved out and a major ground blizzard event that is predicted for tomorrow. Today was the day to get ‘er done, ACCEPT…all 3 of our kiddos came down with the flu 😱, so that left only one of us available. No help? No problem. Nathan processed the entire 100 head by himself, in less than 2 hours. He said they were little ladies. We purchased these gals back in December and after getting them settled at our ranch, we spent a couple days getting them handling the way we like and giving them a dry run through our facility. Days like today sure make us feel like that extra preparation is worth it. Low stress livestock handling not only creates less stress, it lends more flexibility to our operation. My only worry is that it is making my role on the ranch obsolete 😂😅
