Also to edit to add that I had already announced taking a break because the heat really wrecks havoc on the eggs in shipping anyway I just hadn't counted on the break being local chicks too.
A bit of news...
I know at least maybe a few of you have noticed I'm not posting and commenting as much lately.
This news is probably not what you're expecting from me.
I'm officially going on break 🫣.
I'm feeling strung out and exhausted.
I've been at this breeding pens and offering to others for over 6 years and anyone who has been at it this long knows what I'm talking about.
Not only have I been working full time day job but also working with all the crazy breeding pens but also I work with my 2 kids on a private school program online.
And I'm getting mentally exhausted especially because well I'll be honest the chicken world has a ton of drama in it right now. I try to stay away from the drama, and I can usually just let it roll right off but this season it's weighing heavily probably just because I'm exhausted.
I am a people pleaser so this isn't an easy thing to take a break but it is mostly just me here doing the chickens and Jesse jumps in and helps a lot but it does fall on me which is fine it was my decision to take on.
I've loved and it and still do. I love meeting and talking to all the people and learning new things or new ways to do something.I just need to take a break on offering for a few weeks ? Or months ?
The NPIP even though some feel it's a joke is good until next spring. I may not renew the AI this fall it depends on how many packages need to be sent to states that require it. I keep my pens separated all the time because it works easier for me that way.
There are many reasons for this break other than just straight out burnout but I wanted to make an actual post because interest had definitely died down already this year and I thought I'd be able to take a break almost secretively but with new inquiries and I need to wait to grow out some of the roos this year and deal with what we have on hand.
I really don't want to add any more eggs until we get a few pens of roosters taken care of. Our days won't be off together most likely so we need to be careful how many we add up. Before we processed on our one day off together.
I've got a few more orders I'm hatching for and hopefully those get filled with the eggs we have on hand. Later I'm sure I'll have a few things I need to me but none of the Welsummer or Silver Ameraucana breeding groups aren't going anywhere as I'm just taking a break.
The Bielfelders group are spoken for so far and moving in July once I know the actual farm name and for sure going I'll be sharing her info with you .
