We had a sweet little red calf today! Fun fact: We were Surprised! Mama is all black 3/4 Gelbvieh while dad is all black. Gelbvieh literally means ‘yellow cattle’ in German and through selective breeding you now have some black Gelbvieh. Soooo that means somewhere down this mama’s line there was some red, thus giving us this cute little red heifer!

So there’s your history lesson for the day! I (Callie) learned it today as well and thought it was super interesting. It amazes me daily how knowledgeable Ben is with cattle and all the little things about them.

Spring calves headed out to market! Boys bottle calves wanting in on the action too.....once a bottle calf always a bottle calf! They came running to see us today! My favorite part of the farm life is all the babies!
